Title: Nintendo LABO
Post by: K-man on Monday, October 28, 2019, 05:46:47 AM
So obviously wayyyyyyy late to the game here to be making a new post.  I am not sure if Nintendo is discontinuing LABO, but Wal-Mart had the first three LABO sets on clearance for $19 each.  I snagged all three for my daughter and I to put together.

We started the variety set yesterday.  We assembled a joycon "holder" as practice and then put together the "remote control car".  Very neat idea and Willa enjoyed helping to put it together.  But the fun she had afterward was short-lived.  It wasn't long before she asked "Dad is this all it can do?"  I know the games for other builds are supposed to be more fleshed out/fun. We'll see.  Personally I'm looking forward to the piano.

Overall even if she only enjoys the build part of the deal it was worth $19.  I think it was a good, well-executed idea.  But they were much to expensive at MSRP.  The cardboard is fairly substantial but I have to question how much it will hold up over time.  My guess is that our interest will wane before the cardboard deteriorates to the point to where we cannot use the builds.

What were the original MSRPs?  Looking at these I thought they were a great idea and building them seemed super fun but the games seemed like they wouldn't really hold my attention.

Robot was $59.99 and the other two were listed at $69.99.

Just from what I'm seeing a lot of the games seem more "proof of concept" than anything.  But the games come with tools to sort of make your own stuff.  No idea how fleshed out that is, though.
