It's infuriating watching Twitter disintegrate as a platform. I really need it for a variety of things, and that's where all my community is for the writing stuff I do. I keep waiting for people to embrace Mastodon, but it doesn't seem to be getting enough traction to be a true replacement. I guess we'll see. I made a couple accounts over there for writing and games stuff.

Only problem now is that as Trump loses followers, DeSantis gains them. Not looking forward to the next presidential election. If I could be out of the country by then, I would (will?).

Pretty much watched my family disintegrate thanks to the Trump years. But hey, it made it a lot easier to simply come out as a liberal atheist and stop giving a fuck what people think.

My wife and I have been looking at Canada (primarily because we know some folks and work opportunities would come more easily for my wife), but Germany has also been a major consideration. Still looking at things. Germany would be a lot more possible if it weren't for my dog. She's a pit bull and they have breed-specific legislation over there. It's bullshit, but probably not much we can do to circumvent it.

On my birthday I got the new Alienware OLED monitor... and it worked for a few minutes before burning. So that wasn't great for my b'day.

But the replacement came a few months later and is amazing. Yes, my monitor has hijacked your b'day thread.
