Do you guys realize this is our 5th "home"?
« on: Monday, September 11, 2006, 01:58:44 PM »
We've come a long long way together,
Through the hard times and the good,
I have to celebrate you baby,
I have to praise you like I should

We've come a long long way together,

I have to celebrate you baby,
I have to praise you like I should

I have to praise you
I have to praise you
I have to praise you

Yeah, I was thinking about that today too.  We had IGN, then Gamers.com, then AOG, then TME, now here.  We are awesome!

It was short-lived.

Too bad we don't have direct, PhpMyAdmin access to the MySQL database.  I could edit post counts so they continued from TME.

I knew a few of you from IGN, but was mostly on the General board, not the community board. Been a part of the community since gamers.com

It's good to know we've managed to pick up a couple strays along the way to make up for the losses. You know?

Gamers.com was really more just a temporary spot until AOG got its own forums.  I joined up just a little while before those new boards and the site redesign happened.  Was never part of the IGN crowd.  And yes, I'm damned proud.   :-[

Scott, we could continue our post counts from TME, I noticed you can edit them here and I could go through and update everyone if its what they want.

Dont worry pyro, I'll ban Ominous personally.

I don't remember.  I remember it started getting heated with Duck getting a little more liberal with his anti-conservative and anti-religious mud-slinging, then there was the discussion of recentering the site, then you had the revelation over at that other board where SiskoKid and madizm22 hung out about what was really going down - like it was there job to kind of get us to leave.  I guess they suceeded, but fuck it you know?

But then the fact that I'm like 2,000 posts above everyone will continue to be obvious, and this was my only chance at a fresh start.  One that I was failing anyway, it seems.

When did I become MysterD?

I'd love to have my posts from the other side, since it'll be quite obvious that I don't post nearly as much as you guys and I just lurk most of the time.

The thing on AOG... duck had messaged me saying to get you guys to just stay.. don't go.  But I think the extent of his actions run quite deep and we would've left sooner or later.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your not leaving me over in the other side.  Though it almost happened since you guys didn't tell me about TME right from the start.

It took a little while for the news to filter around.  It was hard to keep track of everybody and realize who knew and and who didn't.  But we wouldn't forget about you.  =)

Better not! ;)

If you guys told me I'd be around you 6 years from when I first started posting on IGN, I would've not believed you.

But, we have been through a lot... - IGN going insiders only, moving through all those boards, Bullshark episodes, Sav episodes, Angry & hoob's escapades..

oh! another reason to move the posts from TME is - boobstab threads :D

O0 - that's a hilarious one

The funny thing about the whole AOG thing is how quickly it all blew up.  Quite frankly I think everyone was overreacting on some level.  Duck wanted it to go one way, and no one else really agreed with him on it.  He brought in Mad and Sisko, who completely fucked things up for him (considering they ended up leaving right after we did...kind of so we wouldn't) and duck was left with an empty website....which he rebuilt into some sort of web 2.0 gay-centric digg.com where a bunch of people preach to the choir.  If that's what he wanted then that's great, but I really think he had a much more usefull and interesting thing going before with the whole 'tolerance' based get up (well, my interpretation of what that was, which was aparently very different then his and a few others).  Whatever, I think it's fair to say that everyone sort of won....sort of.

But I still get the feeling that at least one person didn't follow over and has no idea where we went.  I just can't put my finger on it....

well honestly speaking, I never really knew the whole tolerance thing till I went to the serious topics section and posted in a thread about homosexuals, and hoob was the only one who saw it and he said i should delete it.  then I went and read the fine print about the forums.

Even if we did stay there, I don't think we would've been comfortable.

Ahh bullshark

Bullshark, nickclone, metallideth, Csharp (or something like that), ohhhh and who remembers TheGreyKing? I know there's more that have left... I simply can't remember right now. Didn't Folk post at lot at TME? does he know about this place yet?

hahaha

The only reason I didn't want to leave AOG was I had so much fun abusing my mod powers. Duckfat was a fucking tool.

Folk was about to move to New York last time he posted on TME which wasn't too long ago if I remember correctly, maybe a couple of weeks ago at the most, that might explain why he hasn't shown up here yet.

What does that mean, Miss Albania?  I hope we hear from folk soon.

I have to agree with gpw.  The shame about aog is that it was accomplishing something positive, which is the spread of tolerance through information and familiarity.  Preaching to the choir, as he puts it, accomplishes nothing.  I remember having misgivings when I first found out about aog's mission statement.  But those went away as I got comfortable with everyone.  Then, sadly, they became justified anyway.

But now, we're here!  Yay!

Oh, you're talking about that initial thing that started on the IRC chat room.  I wasn't involved in that.  I remember Pug made a big rant about it on the forums.  That was pretty funny, looking back.
