I'd take back the 360 version and get it for PS3, but I already opened the fucker.  Damn it.

If HDD install dramatically reduces load times, then the issue is poor mapping of the data to the Bluray disc.  Bluray can be slow to read for some reason, and data placement needs to be optimized to minimize that.  Because of the format's huge capacity, data can be on the disc multiple times too, so that it can be accessed wherever it's quickest on the fly.

I finally started Bayonetta.  I picked it up on clearance at Target in July.  PS3 version.  I'm enjoying the crap out of it.  At this point, are there any noticeable differences between the PS3 and 360 versions?

Well the PS3 version got poor reviews at the start since the game performed incredibly poorly.  I believe the patch has resolved it and there are little to no differences between the two now.

I want to play this game and plan to pick it up in the near future if I can find it.

Right, I knew about the patch.  I just didn't know if it took care of everything.

It should be widely available at 20 bucks or less now.  I saw some 360 versions on clearance at my local Target yesterday for 15 bucks.

I picked it up last week at Best Buy for $20. Havent had a chance to really play it since Yakuza has been taking all my time. I'll have to grab that patch first.

I played through the PS3 version after the patch and didn't notice any issues with framerates like the reviewers mentioned.  Game looks pretty good and runs well.  I really need to pick up my own copy since the one I played through was my roommate's.

Yeah, I picked it up on PS3 and noticed no issues post-patch.  No idea what the problem was to begin with, but it looks and plays great.  I never did devote enough time to it, sadly.

I'm having a pretty damn good time with this game.  Definitely worth the 15 I paid for it.

From what I'm seeing, I guess this game is mostly going from one combat encounter to the next?  There seems to be almost no free navigation.  I don't necessarily mean open world, but even on the likes of Streets of Rage, we got to navigate the levels ourselves, rather than being thrown automatically into one arena after the next.

The art style reminds me a bit of the Darksiders games, though I could do with a bit less pukey color palette during the combat.  Overall, this doesn't seem to be up my alley, though it does look interesting.

This is a skilled combat game. Exploration has very little to do with it. Being good and racking up huge combos are the draws. This is basically Devil May Cry with a chick.
