2012
« on: Saturday, February 27, 2010, 12:22:27 PM »
I watched 2012 last night and it is, without question, the worst movie that I have ever seen. If it weren't for the fact that I had a lovely lady lying next to me making fun of it with me I would have turned it off after the first 20 minutes. Don't watch this (unless for comedic value), don't pay money for it, you will regret it. Horrible, horrible, horrible. If the Mayans would have predicted the cataclysmic alignment of bad acting, a bad script and bad CG, this movie would have been the affirmation.

Hahaha!  Mayan predictions.  You crack me up sometimes.

I did see this earlier, and it was worth every cent I paid for it (none).

It looked amazingly stupid to me from the get-go.  I wouldn't have touched it even without your warning, but it's good to know it truly was as bad as it looked.

I like watching the commercials for it. They made a movie about the world ending and they follow people running for their lives. Where exactly do they plan on running to as the planet collapses around them? Please, spoil the ending for me.

Hulk Hogan rides in on a dinosaur and saves the day.  (This may not be true)

If that was actually in the movie, I would watch it.

How was the massive destruction of cities? Were those sequences at least cool/worth watching?

It was so ludicrous it made me laugh.  Imagine the luckiest, most unlikely close call you've ever had, the kind that makes you kiss the ground and thank God you're still alive.  Now imagine having one of those every 10 seconds for 2 hours straight.  Death and destruction on a massive scale all around you continuously, but you manage to squeak through every time.  It was impossible to take seriously.

We all know the scene where the runway is destroyed in the direction of the takeoff - the heroes taking off just in time. That happens at least 3 times in this movie, more absurd every time.

The CG is pretty bad - to the point where you can't suspend belief anymore.

Spoiler -

They build boats. "Arks". Everything floods. The water reaches ridiculous heights - one of the boats crashes into the top of Everest.

Fuck platforms / submarines / land-based structures, we will build these huge boats!

And they can only build 3 or 4 of them with billions of dollars and 4 years time.

And all the science in the movie is absolutely laughable. If the Earths core heats up 2000 degrees the surface will bake. Everything will die.

John Cusak in lead role of a movie = avoid said movie.

It's pretty much a maxim.
