Get cancer, burn in a fire, and die Ren.

So, to hijack this thread I have another serious inquiry:

Why the hell does my cat love saltines? It's not natural.

Well I did find out that she gave all the proceeds from that video to the Japan relief fund, so not all is lost.

Did you click it? The best parts of these shit videos are the parodies and covers.

I know the parodies. They might be the best part, but raising the bar on something so bad doesn't necessarily make it good.

I don't really get the hate for this song. It doesn't sound much worse than that rest of the crap you hear on the radio.

That's not even remotely true.  This song is a fucking insult to pop music, and this is coming from a guy who mostly hates pop music.

It's more what the song represents: the idea that anyone can become a star with money. This girl was completely manufactured and I'm pretty sure her parents paid this Ark Music Factory to produce the song and get her name out there. I've heard she can sing somewhat decently, but does an okay voice make someone truly talents now? Not that it matters here since she's autotuned to Roby the Robot proportions. This thing is everywhere and it's only because it was paid for, not for talent.

Really though? Does it actually sound so much worse than this or this that it's an insult to pop music? Friday may be worse but it's in the same shit-filled league.

15 minutes of fame hardly constitutes what you're saying. If this girl ends up having massive staying power then you might have a point but some rich father buying her daughter a music video and then it going viral doesn't equate to being a star.

That the other side of the problem. It's all about 15 minutes of fame and not true staying power (again, something seen with real talent). as I've gotten old enough to actually pay attention to this stuff it seems like most of the stars that are being talked about the most die off within a year or two. I don't know, maybe it was always like that, but it just seems really bad these days and that 15 minutes of fame dies off even more quickly.

Where's my cane? It's clear that Ren needs to be beaten with it.

It's always been like this. There's always been awful, manufactured music and there's always been one hit wonders that didn't really deserve any kind of recognition. The only difference is that now instead of having to convince someone that you're good you just put it on youtube. I just listen, make fun of it with everybody else and move on.

On the other side, being able to put anything on the internet has led to some absolutely amazing music by truly gifted musicians which never would have made it back in the 70s, 80s or 90s. I'm happy to take the Rebecca Blacks of the world if that's the side effect of giving real musicians a chance to get their music heard.
