Samurai Jack
« on: Thursday, September 13, 2012, 03:33:47 AM »
What with all the tech/geek news flying around today, this was the best bit of news for me: Genndy Tartakovsky still working on a Samurai Jack Movie!

Quote
“I’ve been trying so hard every year, and the one amazing thing about Jack is that I did it in 2001, you know, and it still survived. There’s something about it that’s connected with people. And I want it, it’s number 1 on my list, and now Bob Osher, the President (of Digital Production at Sony Picture Entertainment), is like ‘Hey, let’s talk about Jack. Let’s see what we can do.’ And I go, ‘You’re going to do a 2D feature animated movie?’ and he’s like, ‘Yeah. Maybe. Let’s do some research and let’s see.’ So it’s not dead for sure by any means, and it’s still on the top of my list, and I’m trying as hard as I can.”

Awesome. I'm pretty much a fan of everything this dude touches.

You should totally watch Sym-Bionic Titan.

Thanks for the info, Scary! I will check that out :)

UPDATE:
Just watched the first episode of Sym-Bionic Titan! Wow! It's like a Japanese Mecha Anime given the full Tartakovsky treatment! Awesome stuff! Can't wait to see more of it!

Scary, thanks for that!

What is it you guys like about this dude so much? I never got the appeal. I watched a few episodes of Samurai Jack back in the day and it did absolutely nothing for me.

I can't quite point it out specifically but there's something about the art and style of his work. It's cartoony but at the same time carries depth. It's more than just a Saturday morning cartoon. I'm not the biggest fan of Powerpuff Girls but I cannot deny its charm, not just for kids. All the shows are kid-friendly but still awesome!

Samurai Jack is my favourite but I appreciate all his productions.

I also don't get the love for Invader Zim on these boards.

There we must disagree.

And if you don't get it, I recommend reading Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Squee. Then you'll either get it or you'll realize that you and Jhonen Vasquez will never be BFFs.

Haha I love Invader Zim too! ;D

Btw, Sym-Bionic Titan just keeps getting better! There are only 20 episodes so far and I just watched #10. I really hope a second season is in the works.

Sorry for the extremely delayed response. I haven't watched Ninjai flash animations in ages! I would love to see a Ninjai movie!
