-- SC: Remastered will get updated graphics up to 4K resolution + 1080p on the cut-scenes.

-- SC: Remastered will have modern online support w/ Chat, Matchmaking, Enhanced Ladder functionality. Friends List, Cloud Saves, and whatnot all supported via Blizzard App (formerly called Battle.Net).
-- SC: Remastered Multiplayer will be compatible w/ SC Original versions.
-- SC: Remastered's Gameplay will NOT be changed at all from the original versions of SC.
-- Old versions SC + Brood War will become FREE though.

I'm glad Blizzard decided to do this. It has been a rumour for some time. No doubt it has a lot to do with Brood War making a somewhat unexpected comeback recently in Korea. SC2 just never got as big as BW there (for various reasons, some of which are the fault of Blizzard I would say) and a lot of BW pros couldn't transition right away (due to team contracts, because BW remained fairly popular even after SC2 came out, etc.) and of those that eventually did many ended up going to BW due to lack of success.

I didn't play a lot of multiplayer in BW, but I can see myself getting into it after the game is integrated into Battle.net and with improved graphics. I don't know how much I'd enjoy the old mechanics (like selection limit, inability to hotkey production buildings, etc.) though after playing SC2 for all these years!

I would love to see better screens but the ones in that PCGamer article are too small and you cant expand, I don't even see a difference.

If you want Matchmaking, you'll have to buy the Remaster.
