You're free right now. Pretty much totally free. Don't let that truth slip past you. Think about stuff that you used to do like music, writing, or studying. You have time for this stuff again. They might seem pointless right now, but when it comes down to it they're about as worthwhile as anything humans are capable of. There was a bit of time during the past few months just before the meet when Aimee and I thought you seemed to be doing much better. It seemed like you were just focusing on yourself at the time. Maybe you were putting on a good face for us, but if not it might be worth looking at what was working then.

If all else fails. People care about you. They want you to be happy. That has lower things from completely shitty to at least moderately shitty.

Great things can come from anguish. It's definitely easier said than done, it's up to you to get yourself out. Sometimes you have to twist your own arm into doing what you know is best for yourself. Whether it's taking the time to socialize, even when you least want to see others, or getting the right food when you think you can't stomach it.

I wish I knew you better, but from what I do know I believe you can pull through. Your experiences and ordeals over the years have forged a strong will within you. You will overcome your trials. Trust your instincts.

The barley juice you drink might help but I wouldn't put much stock in it. Please note that I am in Canada and US beer is basically diluted barley juice compared to Canadian beverages.

I still think that great things may come from dealing properly with the causes of anguish.  Anguish itself promotes fear, anger, depression, and more anguish, in my experience.

Que, you can't avoid this period of suffering.  It must run its course.  The only question is whether you emerge from it healthy, or sick from chemical addiction.  Ease the pain in nondestructive ways, please.  Invest your mind into something, even if it's ultimately meaningless.  Games work for me.  There's working to climb out of a hole, and then there's surviving your stay in the hole.  Both are important.

I haven't actually told the story here yet.  Most of you probably either have no idea what it is, think it's about the divorce, or figured it out already.  I'll tell it eventually.  But telling it now would be premature.

BTW, I was playing Alan Wake (simply awesome), and thought at least thrice that you'd enjoy it. I know you are worried about finally killing your 360, but there is no better game to do it with than Alan Wake.

It just seems like something you'd really enjoy, and would identify with the main character. Just make sure you play the game at night.

There have been moments in Alan Wake when I've gotten to the end of the forest when I've realized that I have missed an optional item, and have literally decided against it because of my pussification at the hands of the game.

I've always found fighting games to be the best solution to woes in life.  If it wasn't for Killer Instinct and Marvel Super Heroes, I'm not sure I'd have made it through high school.  Not surprisingly, I spend 1 hour at work every day playing Street Fighter 2: Championship Edition with coworkers, which is why I love my job.

I hope things work out soon, Que.  Being in a slump can seem overwhelming in the moment, so try not to forget how awesome the world is in the long run.
