My bedroom is fine, but my living room is almost bare of wall decoration. I have a dilema in that I want something classier than posters but can nowhere near afford real art.
Suggestions?
-
I'd say go to deviantART.com and check stuff out, but they've gotten really expensive.
-
My original plan was to wait until I could purchase real art and slowly fill out my house one bit at a time, but I'm starting to get the feeling that this isn't going to happen anytime soon, especially considering my propensity to blow my disposable income on electronics.

Paint a mural?

HA!

Eh. Just give up and rasterbate until your eyes fall out.
-
That's an old wives's tail. Rasterbating doesn't make you go blind, and nor does it give you hairy palms.

Kill 10 infidels and paint your house with their blood.

Cools wins the thread.

Wallscrolls are always nicer looking than posters and last longer. I have several anime/video game related ones. Ukiyo-e art is always kind of cool looking. (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/5/58/Hiroshige_Fuji_23.jpg/300px-Hiroshige_Fuji_23.jpg) Big, old looking maps are kinda cool too.

Then it's going to smell like dried nappies.. sorry, but what a thought.
yech
Mosaics are cool.. But can we see pics of the bare walls first? Then we'll have an idea of what to do.. create a mirage.. that'd be cool.

i put a load of movie posters in clip frames and put them around my living room. it's pretty cheap, but looks cool.

Is there a university near you? Lots of times they will put on a poster sale that will do mockups of great pieces of art. Can be a good way to spruce up the place

I suppose finding some good posters and framing them isn't a bad Idea, it has crossed my mind before.
If I were to go the rasterbating route, I would do what exactly? Find a picture I like, rasterbate it, then take the image to a print shop to be printed or something?
Edit: The offending walls. The rabbit ears will thankfully be going away next week. I've finally decided to join the 20th Century and get cable.

If you have a printer you can do it yourself after downloading Rasterbator and selecting an image, but it will require a good amount of ink and paper depending on the image size.

It does work, though. I'll attest to it. Gets some pretty cool looking results.

1. get a cool carpet to put up
2. check out some of the walls here.. http://www.artisticwallcreations.com/galleries.htm - interesting to put something there, like those rubber lizards and spiders that look real.. haha kinda freaky though
3. Put up a map, an interesting one. In this other place I lived in, there was a huge bare wall, and so my roommate put up a map and visitors would always crowd around it and discuss.. etc.. it was interesting what conversations come around because of a map./

My game room is almost all maps of fictional places. There are 10 currently, with a few that aren't up, one lost, and a few more on the way I'm sure.

That's a cool idea, actually. My roommate just moved out so my walls are pretty bare in the main room. Maybe I'll get a map.

I only have one map in my new room. Of course, it's an awesome one (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/34416813/?&q=warhammer+map&qh=boost%3Apopular+age_sigma%3A24h+age_scale%3A5). It actually printed out at a decent size fairly well too. I think my fun room is nearly complete at my place though. There's still a couple good spots for posters, but I know it's going to go to one of my Darwina ones. The trick so far has just been figuring out how I want to hang it. I don't want to just paste it up, but framing is something of a problem because it's A2 sized and no where around here carries frames made to European standards. That leaves custom framing which is a lot of money.
I also did a rasterbation of my own of an image of Samus, but I still haven't put it up. I'll be damned it the thing didn't take up something like a quarter of my ink catridge though.

That map is freaking awesome Sy. I need to get a couple more maps in my room, I have the maps that came with Lunar and Lunar 2 and the mini map that came with Super Mario World Advance. I want to get a map of Middle Earth sometime. I really wish I could find an awesome map of Ivalice to hang up though.
EDIT: After looking for some good pics of Ivalice, namely the FF12 world map, I found this one (http://www.ff12-europe.com/Images/art/art46map.jpg), how well do you think that would print out Sy? I would probably do some Photoshopping to get rid of the seams and label all of the places correctly before I printed it.

Just buy the guide. Comes with map. Horjays! I have it up next to my TES maps (though I'm missing my Bloodmoon map... lost it when we moved... and it depresses me to no end...)

Oh cool, I did not know that, I will have to buy the guide then for sure.

The "limited edition" guide features a nice little art book... but not even half as good as the Gears of War one.
-
That image... eh. I wouldn't want to take it beyond best fit on a letter size sheet of paper. It'll be a little pixelated, but not horribly.

I like the map idea, I'l go that route with at least one picture. I only wish I could paint well enough to do one of those wall murals. I think I may fill the rest out with a few framed posters for now.
