Eid Mubarak!
« on: Sunday, November 06, 2011, 08:04:38 AM »
Just wanna wish everybody a Happy Eid! Had a fun day here!

Eid Al Adha is basically the Muslim equivalent of Christmas; it's biggest Islamic celebration in the year.

Hope y'all had a great day! Wooh!

Awesome. Happy Eid!

How is that pronounced? Like "I'd" or "need" minus the n?

Sounds like "need" :)

It actually starts with a letter that doesn't exist in the English language, so I think whomever first wrote it that way was trying to compromise.

Thanks, Idol ;D

Happy Eid! Is it on the same date every year, or does it fluctuate?

It's the same date on the Lunar calendar but it fluctuates on the Gregorian calendar, which shifts roughly 11 days earlier each year. Since we follow the Lunar calendar  we sometimes get Ramadan during the winter (short days, yay!) and eventually during the summer (long, long days here: sunrise 4:30 a.m. and sunset 7:30 p.m.), that varies how long we have to fast during the Holy month.
