Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Trailer here

Yeah, another game-to-movie movie. Though I have to say it looks pretty cool (I'm a total sucker for big adventure movies like this). Its being done by Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer, the ones that did Pirates of the Caribbean. I mean, they took an amusement park ride and turned it into some fun movies. They've actually got a better starting ground with the game. Plus Jordan Mechner, the original creator of PoP, wrote the screenplay. So they even got him involved instead of just farming it out to someone else.

Interestingly you can see Mechners original pitch trailer he made using Sands of Time game footage.

Now I feel like playing SoT.

The movie looks interesting. I usually have my doubts with Disney at the helm but they might pull this one off.

Eh, it looks like it could be okay.

Why does he have an english accent?

"We need to make Jake Gyllenhaal look Persian!"

"Oh that's no problem, we'll just have him grow some facial hair"

The English accent just puts it inline with the first Sands of Time trilogy of games. The voice and accent definitely worked to reflect the Prince's sophistication and pompous attitude, almost having a stiff upperlip.

Nolan North's voice talent came in with the most recent installment, in which the Prince's character was notably more aloof and laid back. North's voice is famous for portraying that sort of character i.e. Nathan Drake from Uncharted among many others.

Man, those accents really bother me. They are just stupid.

It made me want to play Assassin's Creed, actually.  Fun movie.  Check your brain at the door, and enjoy the ride.  I did.
