Unfortunately I had to run down the road a bit to get to a spot to take pics, the mosquitoes were terrible, and my battery died after 6 shots.

That sucks. Still, what a beauty.

Nice shot, beautiful sunset. Do you do any PP (post processing) on your shots?

Nope, every shot I've posted has been right from the camera (other than resized). I have done some PP for practice but don't believe I've ever posted any.

You should definitely look into it, particularly with your photography skills. As good as this shot is, if it was brightened up and the levels were adjusted a little to bring out the colors it could be quite good. I'm not a fan of excessive PP or anything, but a little here and there can be quite beneficial.
I didn't do much but adjust the levels, and the curves a little.

I prefer the original. But then, I usually do with this stuff. If the picture looks great without any messing around, I think it's always best to just leave it.

Yeah, I actually agree the original looks better at second glance. Told you I'm bad at it. :) If you're good at it, though, it can improve the photograph significantly.

it's a really nice image.
after reading this discussion on photo enhancement i couldn't resist having a go as well - i hope you don't mind! i adjusted the levels, contrast and colour slightly. reduced noice, and did a minor sharpen.
i prefer the original anyway, it looks more dramatic, but i thought i might as well post my results.
Same here. Back in the 80s, I worked on an image editor for a company. They were into all this image processing crap, and I was one of the few voices of dissention. I always preferred the original over the doctored results, and I never understood the appeal of things like solarization. I can see correcting colors or enhancing the contrast of a bad picture, maybe some noise reduction or sharpening; but that's about it.

I took the liberty of doing a few things to your pic in order to improve it. Let me know what you think of my alterations.
