I still haven't watched The Lord of The Rings films yet... have been waiting for the blu-ray extended cut all my life. Finally got a hold of it and will watch in a few days.
But the news is that The Hobbit is now a trilogy. That's pretty ridiculous considering the book is shorter than any of the three LOTR volumes... I understand that a lot will be used from unpublished material, but still. This is a bit much and just screams of money making.
EA is not producing this trilogy BTW.

WTF, thats stupid.

That's a really odd change. My interest just went down just cause I hate having to wait for a year or more for a conclusion, let alone 2 more movies.

I heard the third movie will be based on the appendices and not pertain to The Hobbit per se, which makes sense since the film was filmed as a two-part movie. That said, it's a clear decision to milk the franchise for all it is worth.

iPPi is right.
Someone said that this will end up being 3 two hour films rather than 2 three hour films as intended. Who knows. But I am sure this would have been fine as one film.
Then again, the third could turn out awesome. Who knows.

No thanks.

Exactly.

I finally had a chance to see this, and it took me two sitting over three days to get through this movie. Incredibly tedious, long, CGI-ridden and poorly paced. I was quite disappointed.

Yep. You fared better than I.

I didn't per se *love* The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, but I surely did *like* it.
Granted, that movie (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) surely was nowhere as great as the 1st and 3rd LOTR movies, IMHO.
