Title: Breaking Bad
Post by: PyroMenace on Monday, February 25, 2008, 01:31:24 AM
Has anybody heard of this? My mom was telling me about it and I got rather intrigued. Its this new show on AMC about this guy who's lived an honest life and he recently finds out he's got cancer. So basically since he knows he doesnt got much time left, he pretty much goes to the dark side and starts getting into trouble. He finds a guy how to make crystal meth, and him and some others start making it. In one episode while in the process of making it, there are deadly fumes you can inhale so you wear masks, but a guy ends up inhaling some fumes and dies. Then they try to dispose of the body, so they decide to melt him in acid, but the guy who tries to does it in a metal tub instead of a plastic one so the acid eats its way through the tub then through the floor and all this decomposed body and acid comes crashing through the floor. And of course at the same time hes trying to keep this from his family, its really dark stuff. I havent actually watched an episode, its just what I've heard. Im really curious now and Im getting a hold of the first episode.

Saw a bunch of ads but never actually saw it.  It's got the dad from Malcolm in the Middle in it, which is just strange.  I didn't know what it was about... now I'm curious though.

I've seen lots of previews for it on AMC and it's gotten pretty good reviews but I've never watched it.

just watched the first one and i really enjoyed it. rarely laugh out loud funny, but, dark, amusing and quite clever. the combination of the straight-laced main character and the situations he gets in seems to be a formula that works really well. as i said, i've only watched the first one so far, so it might be a bit pre-emptive to judge yet - but so far, i think it's excellent and i'd definitely recommend giving it a go.

I'll have to set my DVR to record that and give it a watch sometime.

So I started watching this series recently and am nearly at the end of the second season.  This is a fantastic series.

I saw an ad for Season 4 and that reminded me I need to watch 1-3.  I'll be doing so shortly.  I've also heard it is fantastic.

You guys have to watch this.  This show and Dexter are easily the most intense series I have ever watched.  The character development in Breaking Bad is phenomenal.  Bryan Cranston is an incredible actor.  The writing is flawless.  I can't wait for more of this season.  I can't complain about a single thing in this show.

Oh man.  The last 10 minutes of this week's episode may have been the best yet in the whole series.

Great end to the season.  It's not terribly surprising, but it's still pretty damn good TV.

My thoughts exactly.  I thought the

was a little much.  Could have done without that image.

Regardless, wonderful end.  Very curious to see what they do for next season.

'Breaking Bad' reinterpreted as a retro RPG (http://www.theverge.com/2012/2/1/2764717/breaking-bad-rpg-college-humor-video)

Quote
Tired of waiting for the final season of Breaking Bad? We have something to help the months go by a little faster, or at least entertain you for the next few minutes. CollegeHumor has taken the first four seasons of the show and created a video interpretation of what they would look like as a SNES-style RPG.

...

This is a real treat for fans of the show, but as previously mentioned, it does work through the entire storyline thus far. With that in mind, if you're not done with season four just yet, you will find some huge spoilers waiting for you in the video below.

Haha it somehow works! :P

I found the story on the margin about self-guiding bullets (http://www.theverge.com/2012/2/2/2765932/self-guided-bullet-sandia-labs) even more awesome.

I find it weird that so many people have a problem with the violence on the show.

Really?! I mean it is violent but nowhere near as bad as so many other shows on other networks.

Pretty much anything on HBO or STARZ is gratuitous in sex and violence. Perhaps Showtime series as well.

Overall, I highly enjoyed the fifth season.  It doesn't have the intensity of the fourth season, but it's still a great drama.  I'm looking forward to the next half of the season, which is unfortunately still a long way off (next summer).

I finally started watching this. Only 2 episodes in... they keep discounting the DVDs at Best Buy, so I finally bit. Amazing so far.

I tried "obtaining" some episodes, watched the first one in terrible quality and was hooked. I paid $8.50 for a month of Netflix to watch all but the latest season. Didn't actually watch anything else before turning Netflix back off, and it was totally woth the $8.50.

I really hate that they're taking a break on a cliffhanger now though.

I also really hate that they are dragging it out.  Waiting 1 more year for 8 more episodes?  Booooooooo

Why are they doing that? Just because they know the show is so good they can be complete dicks?

Waiting a long time to release new episodes for a brilliant series didn't work out too well for George Lucas. He did turn out to be a bit of a dick though.

From what I've heard, the creators wanted to end it next season, but the network doesn't want that. So now they're doing less episodes over a longer period of time. The same thing ended up happening to Lost, it just sucks more because BB is on a cable channel, less episodes already.
