This went back and forth to confirmed and not confirmed...
Confirmed (http://www.latinoreview.com/news/mark-wahlberg-says-he-is-in-uncharted-drake-s-fortune-12180)
In the latest statement for this project, Moviehole asked actor Mark Walhberg about the David O. Russell project.
“David O. Russell is writing right now and hopes to direct,” said Wahlberg. “It’s myself, Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro.”
Previous reports claimed Wahlberg was not a lock for the Nathan Drake’s role and the two other actors' involvement were mere rumors.
Walhberg also added they are “hopefully going to shoot it in the summer time.”
So we can all go back to not caring about the movie now.
-
I liked Three Kings so maybe there's hope for this...
-
Then again, De Niro and Pesci? Uncharted: Jersey Shore?
-
Man, De Niro has really let his career fall into the shitter. Granted, his movies do well, but he's going to be remembered as a sellout money maker rather than the influential actor he once was.
-
Wahlberg was good in The Departed.
-
I'm with Sy.
And I've got nothing against Wahlberg as an actor, but he isn't the dude tailor-made to play this part and anyone else is just an insult. Aside from that, I can't see Wahlberg doing this at all. He just doesn't seem like the right guy at all for it.

There are is very little to no hope for any game that get turned into movies.
You just can't translate most games into movies - most games are TOO long for the movie setting, which is a usual one-shot deal for around say 1 hour 30 mins to (the highly doubtful) 3 hours.
Often, a lot of the elements that we love about games, when they're translated into a movie - they are either flat-out missing and/or just don't work in the movie environment at all.
Games-to-episodic TV translations, I think, would be a much better idea.

The fuck? the Super Mario brothers movie was the greatest movie of all time

Here's an idea: Games just need to stay games.

Thank you, Adam Sessler. (http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/709830/Uncharted-Movie-Problems-Why-Video-Game-Movies-Suck-Sesslers-Soapbox.html)

So basically Adam Sessler spent five minutes basically regurgitating my above comment.
I almost forgot how big of a tool he is. Seriously. I hate that he's one of the go-to spokespeople for the gaming crowd.
-
I didn't listen to it, but anybody that badmouths Tolkien can fuck off.
-
You know who I really dislike? Olivia Munn.
Though the good thing is that the internet sees through her as well.

She's cute but end of the day she wants fame and fortune. Really tough for me to be attracted to materialistic chicks. I'm kinda attracted to hippies. Hippies that shower.
-
Yeah, and that's pretty much everyone who goes into TV work. And admit it, we all want to look at pretty people on TV. ;)

It depends.. Y'know how sometimes you see something so horrible you can't take your eyes off it? Like a car crash or a train wreck.. or Joan Rivers.
-
Now that I am done with the first and halfway through the second, I suddenly care about this movie.
So yea, what the hell? Wahlberg is a good actor, but Nathan Drake he is not.

Is it just me or is this guy a freak?
-
OK read this interview on IGN:
http://movies.ign.com/articles/114/1148368p1.html
WTF? WHAT FAMILY?
-
I think maybe he was playing a different game....or something.
Well, this is really going to suck. And in my opinion, I'm good with it just staying a video game. The games are so well done, and the story perfectly told through the game, it doesn't need a live action version. It's fine how it is.
-
Well some good news, the director and the actors accompanying with it, including Mark Wahlberg, are no longer attached to the movie. So it's all up for grabs again... Fillion to still have a chance? Probably not, but man, I will continue to hope.
Edit: I heard it on the bombcast but here's a link (http://www.geekosystem.com/david-o-russel-mark-wahlberg-off-uncharted/) to the story after a google search.
-
Hooray!
-
Ehat is up with this obsession the internet has with Nathon Fillion getting this role?
I mean the dude is just too freakin' old for the role. Has anyone even seen what he looks like now? And this is the first movie. Getting it out the door would take three years, and by then he'll be even older. Plus it is a huge investment, and if it takes off, they'd want it to become a franchise.
I agree that Whalberg was just awful for the spot, but Fillion was never going to get it.
-
I've almost stopped caring who they cast as Nathan Drake.
My vote for Sully (Victor Sullivan) goes to Bruce Campbell. After seeing him as Sam Axe in Burn Notice I think he could really pull off the role. Also coz Bruce Campbell is just awesome.
-
Yea that would be a good fit.
