It's more his behavior rather than him owning an iPad and using it that got him in trouble.  That said, the last couple of flights I've had, the person that sat next to me was using either an iPhone 4 or an iPad for pretty much the duration of the flight.  The attendants either didn't see it or didn't care.

Yea, this has little to do with what device it was. The guy was a jerk.

You have to turn them off during takeoff.  You can use them in airplane mode during the flight, but during takeoff and landing all devices have to be turned off entirely, regardless.

But yeah, assholes deserve what they get.  Good for them.  Glad they called him on it.

Everytime I've seen someone in public with an iPad, they were a complete douchebag.  It's like they are using it publicly less for the utility (virtually none... it's a toy) and more for the "I'm think I'm cool because I have an expensive Apple thingy" factor.
