(back on pc) and as small as my TV screen is in my room... I will never post on my Wii again. My eyes hurt. Still a cool feature.

They released the Internet channel?  I was messing with my brother's Wii yesterday and it said that it would be part of a future update.

Yeah. I think today was the release. The weather channel also got going on Tuesday.

To me both of those aren't really important or anything. Odds are if you've got a wireless connection set up at your place to get the Wii connected, you've already got access to better versions of a web browser and therefore Yahoo weather. Still, it's cool enough that Nintendo put them on there... I just doubt I'll ever use them beyond checking them out when I get a chance.

Yeah, I saw the forecast channel already.  It's actually pretty neat how you can scroll around the globe and you get rain sound effects when it's raining and things like that.

Really? That's pretty cool. I do need to play with it when I get back home after Christmas.

Huh. I guess that explains this comic (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/12/20).

Heh.

I think the forecast channel is actually pretty neat myself.  I could see myself using it if I was playing a game and decided to go out or something.  I like how the 5-day forecast looks almost exactly like one you would see on TV.

I think I'd probably be a lot more likely to use it on the Wii, actually.  I never think to do that kind of thing pretty much ever, but if I had a Wii I'd probably do it now and again just for kicks.

Maybe they will incorporate the weather thing into games. Like, it checks the timezone and if it is raining there based on the Wii weather thing it will rain in the game. That would be pretty cool.

Considering all the creative things they like to do that wouldn't surprise me even a little.  Could be neat.

Rumor has it Madden already does that. If you're playing in the NY stadium, it check the NY weather and displays appropriate weather effects, for example.

Nintendo better do that for Animal Crossing Wii....

I'll bet you they will.  They seem to really be moving in the direction of integrating stuff like that into simpler titles to give them more spice.

Black and White did stuff like that with weather. Problem was that weather is generally pretty consistant in a lot of places in the world for the time you would actually be playing a game so you'd never see rain or anything if you played with the real world setting on. I guess it would work for something like a sports game where you play a little every couple days over the course of a year, but not for something you're addicted to for a couple weeks and then drop it. Even still, if you live in a boring place weather-wise, your game is going to be pretty boring. More often than not I'd rather have the developers come up with a weather patern because it'll give you a more interesting mix of things for the most part.

I think being able to select between real and random weather should be a standard option.
