Title: Big Box Project
Post by: idolminds on Friday, January 19, 2007, 11:36:43 PM
Gotta give this guy props (http://www.thebigboxproject.com/). He's at least inventive.

He has an Xbox 360. It broke a while back, so MS sent him a box so he could ship it to MS so they could repair/replace it. Now his repaired/replaced 360 has broken, but is still under warranty. He calls MS for a box and...uh oh.

Turns out MS doesn't ship boxes out anymore due to a change in some agreement. Its their right to do that, of course. So now you have to pay to ship the Xbox to MS and they will return it...in the same box.

So the guy has a plan: take donations to ship his 360 in the largest box he can. A 40 foot solid steel shipping container.

Interesting... but then he will lack a working 360 for an extended period of time.

He already lacks a working Xbox 360, so it's not like he's missing much.

It'll be interesting to see if he can pull it off. How much does a one of those shipping containers even cost?

While it is funny, what's stopping him from just taking the money and scramming?

We should come up with our own scam.

Well we could take donations so I can pay Comcast to string cable out to me so I can have broadband, then turn around and waste the money on hookers and blow.

Great idea, even though the guy sounds like an idiot based on the phone conversation on the site. I wonder if MS will actually ship it back in the same box.

M$ might charge him shipping to send it back in that steel box. :P
