Title: Idiocracy
Post by: idolminds on Saturday, January 20, 2007, 12:41:08 AM
Good flick. Its not deep and the humor is a usually low brow (which is to be expected), but its a good watch.

Average army dude and a prostitute are frozen in an army experiment. Instead of being frozen for one year, it ends up being 500. When they wake up, everything has been dumbed down to the point where they are the smartest people on earth.

Being a huge Mike Judge fan (i'm sure you all know how obsesesed with King of the Hill, Office Space, and Beavis & Butthead I am) I will definitely see this. Is it worth buying?

Worth buying...probably. Its kind of hard for me to say since it was a good movie, just I'm not sure if I'll be buying it for myself. But then I dont buy a ton of movies in the first place.

You know, I've gotten to like Mike Judge a bit more lately.  I used to hate King of the Hill, and while I'm still not its biggest fan ever, I don't actually hate it anymore.  It's a little hit or miss, but it's got a tendency to be funny in the right circumstances and with certain characters.

I saw this in Blockbuster the other day, but passed on it because I don't even remember it being out in theaters and thought it was some crappy straight-to-DVD release.

I thought this movie was better than Office Space. Yeah, that good. Watch it!

I thought the concept was great, but I thought this movie sucked.

It was more on and off than a light switch, on the comedy. And had some horrible pacing.

I was disappointed w/ this one, to say the very least.

Yea, Im sad to say it, but I agree. At first the novelty was funny and the stupid humor was to be expected. In the end, there just wasn't enough good stupid humor, it was just mostly bad. I just felt there was a lot more it could have done to be funny, because it was all there, the jokes didn't come together right. I really did start the movie wanting to like it being a fan of Office Space and I did at first, but it just kept waning down to mediocrity, oh well.

Yeah, I really wanted to really like this movie, too...

...but, it just was lacking something: good execution.

A lot of the jokes were either on or off -- when they were funny, they were damn funny. When they weren't, they REALLY weren't.

Though, I did like the President (Terry Crews, the guy who plays Chris' dad on TV show Everybody Hates Chris) in the film.
