haha oh my god that is so awesome. If we had a site then you'd get us so many hits.
-
Congratulations. I didn't even sign up for it.
-
Wow, congrats Ed! That's gonna be exciting!
Keep us posted ;D
-
You lucky son of a bitch. ;D
I wonder how many invites they are sending out.
-
If you buy Crackdown apparently there are free halo3 betas included in that game.
-
There are actually a bunch of ways to get in. I know if you buy crackdown, you get the beta sign up. Also, there's some period where you have to play a certain number of hours of Halo 2 to be able to register again. I got picked after signing up after the official commercial was released. So there are a bunch of ways to get in, but I'm just glad I don't have to go through the money or hassle of the other ways.
Edit: iPPi basically said what I just said right when I was going to post. Bastard!

Since you joined Halo 3 Beta, you probably won't be allowed to give info out on it and anything due to some disclaimer, eh??
Damn....And I really wanted to know how much H3 will suck, basically. :P

Congratulations, you get to play the latest shitty game from the shitty Halo franchise before it's even cleaned up to its usual level of shittiness. Hurrah!
Okay, I'm trolling. Seriously, I'm sure that's awesome for you. I just hate everything Halo. But if it were a franchise I liked, I'm sure it would be good times indeed. I've done betas for a few different games now, but nothing too exciting or big-name.

If you don't mind me asking, what games have you done betas for....?

I got to beta test Savage, Star Wars Galaxies, and some game called Combat Medic. Savage was the cooler experience of the three. SWG was really exciting at first, but then I played it and realized how much it sucked.
-
I beta tested WoW when it was the open beta... so basically right before the retail launch occurred... that's about it for beta testing.

You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining urban centers.

The only thing of note I ever got to test was Battle Isle - The Andosia War (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/battleisletheandosiawar/index.html?q=battle%20isle). There were several other pretty cool games in the series and also the almost entirely unknown DarkSpace (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/sim/darkspace/index.html) which actually did a little online pioneering for its time. Anyway, Andosia War wasn't that great, but I also didn't think it was quite as bad as GSpot's reviewer seemed to think. It was a decent enough game and pretty fun at the time. The main reason I got into it was mostly because of its pseudo-link to Incubation (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/incubation/index.html), which I was a *huuuge* fan of at the time. One of the first online communities I ever belonged to was called "Geo's Incubation Site" or something like that, a site run by the aforesaid Geo. It was a pretty cool little group of enthusiasts, and the game's community was very small, so it was cool to have a nice little group to screw around with. He moved on to other strategy games, but honestly, that was one of the last really good ones of its ilk that I can think of. There's been very little in the way of turn-based, squad strategy in a long, long time, let alone anything of value.

Seriously now...

If only, in the future, I could get into a beta for Elder Scrolls 5 (for the PC).....

Silent Storm was pretty good. I know you hate WWII, but it's like a clone of X-Com minus the aliens and jetpacks. Honestly, X-Com is the better game, but Silent Storm is worth mention.

Yeah, I fiddled with it briefly. The motif more or less did me in at that point, but it was a cool game. Just seems like the genre is more or less dying or entirely filled with history-themed wargames. There's little else left.
