I saw the trailer and was like "Whoa...."
Hopefully, the movie's as good as its trailer. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ALyw5ukA7fE)
Anyways, the movie takes place in the South. Lazarus (Samuel L. Jackson) is divorced b/c of his cheating wife. So, he finds Rae (Christina Ricci), all beaten up all over and barely wearing anything, in the middle of the street. Lazarus takes her in and ties her up to a radiator in his house w/ a 20-foot chain. He claims to want to cure her of her "illness" -- she's a drug-using, partying nymphomaniac who has been used and abused by most of her boyfriends, basically -- though, Lazarus has issues of his own and might be trying to control her b/c he couldn't control his ex-wife.
Movie goes to theatres in the end of February.

If it's as good as Hustle & Flow, I'm sure it will be great. Harry on AICN had it in his Top Ten of 2006 (he saw it at festivals last summer)

BTW, I saw The Fountain last night and I need to update my Top 10. It's one of those movies you either love or hate... but it reminded me of an Isaac Asimov type story... very abstract and complicated. I loved it!

Gotta say it, Christina Ricci looks smokin in this. Didnt know she was capable of a body like that after seeing Monster.

I love Ricci. Always had a soft spot for her, both looks-wise and as an actress. But man, this movie looks like a trip and a half. That's some crazy stuff.

I was thinking the same thing, also including Cursed. I didn't think that was her in the trailer until I saw her face.

And Prozac Nation is one of her best flicks, to date.

Not to diverge from the topic, but I really want to see The Fountain. I actually kind of forgotten about this movie and stuff since it kinda just got forgotten soon after its release.

I really wanted to see The Fountain, but I heard it got booed and a lot of people walked out on it during Sundance. The last movie to get hit like that was Brown Bunny, although I've never seen that one...only the good parts on the net.
I have no idea what Black Snake Moan is really about, some people says about racism, some say sexism, some say it's satire, S&M (hence the title...Black S&M...kinda a stretch). I'll have to hear more about it before I actually pay to go out and see it.

I think it's about a bunch of those things -- well, at least from the trailer...namely, looks like racism and sexism will play some factors in this flick.
Though, to me, this could be the major theme: "the lost (souls) trying to figure out what to do w/ what they have lost" looks like it'll be a major theme in this movie. Looks like Rae (Ricci) has "lost" control of herself, while Lazarus "lost" control of his wife...

Wow. First she had me glued to the screen, then the movie developed into something better than expected. It's making the cable/sat movie-channels run now. I do recommend it.

Yeah, guys -- if you ain't seen this, see it; especially if it's running on cable TV runs (like HBO). Not only is the concept of the movie really good, but it's actually well-executed, too.
