Post by: MysterD on Tuesday, February 06, 2007, 03:10:03 PM
Manhunt 2 is being planned for the PS2, PSP, and The Wii!

Hmmm...I wonder how the Wii version of the game will turn out, w/ the controls and all..... (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3156996)

Manhunt Sequel Slays on PS2, Wii and PSP
It's the new holy trinity of game development.
By Luke Smith, 02/06/2007

Rockstar Games will publish Manhunt 2 for Sony's PlayStation 2 and PSP. Additionally, the game will appear on the Nintendo Wii. Manhunt 2 is the first game from Rockstar London. "With Manhunt 2 we have tried to create a game that stays close to the original concept of chilling suspense and stealth, whilst pushing the game design and storytelling forward," said Sam Houser, executive producer and founder of Rockstar Games.

The long life and huge install base of Sony's PlayStation 2 continues to beget third party titles to Nintendo's Wii -- will these games find a unique place among Nintendo owners or will they be afterthought-type ports of PS2 and PSP software with tacked on waggle controls? Some will be the latter, we hope Rockstar's Manhunt sequel is among the former.

Omg! The Wii version is going to kick so much ass! I was hoping for a Hitman Wii, but I guess this can hold me over.

No interest.  I loved the gritty evilness of the first and all, but by the end of it I was just bored.  It was a fun game and worth having, but I really can't see myself caring much for another unless it adds a whole lot to up the ante.  And I can't get excited about any cross-development stuff related to the Wii.  Not that I don't have confidence in the system, I just want to see stuff developed exclusively for it, not watch them try to adapt it to standard gameplay situations.  Then again, it doesn't matter to me because I can't afford a Wii, sooo... yeah.

Heh, I played about 1 hour of this game and then I never played it again.  It was interesting, but nothing spectacular.

Yeah, the first one got really boring really fast.  I can't say I'm at all interested in this one.

I think you must be mistaken, sir.  I turned up absolutely nothing on it.

In case I wasn't clear: the original Manhunt is available on PC...and it kind of sucks.

Ah.  Yes, I believe we've covered that.  Though I wouldn't say it sucks... it just got dull after a while.  I still liked the style and such, and it definitely had a few cool/twisted moments throughout.  Just needed to be more tightly packed and more story-focused.

I really liked it in doses to be honest. But yes the formula did outstay its welcome, so the sequel needs to do a whole lot more.

This is completely off topic, but I think Freedom Fighters 2 should go for the Wii as well.

Oh, it does what it does well, don't get me wrong.  It's just that what it does gets boring after about an hour, especially when you're just doing it for the sake of doing it.

What is your overall feelings towards the DS?

And don't forget the PC, either. :P

The Nintendo DS? From what I've played of it I like it a lot.  I'd probably own one, but I bought a GBA years ago and basically didn't touch it again after 6 months.  It's a factor that I personally don't have a need for a portable gaming machine at all.  If I'm playing a game I'm at home and there's always something I'd rather play on a console or PC.  I may buy one eventually, but we'll see.

Why do you ask?  I totally don't see what that has to do with me thinking Manhunt got played out really fast.

Because he thinks you're talking about the Wii and would probably sacrifice one of his own children to Nintendo if given half the chance.
