Columbus Community College to study Fire Science. Yeah sure, it's a Community College, but still. My plan thus far is to study Fire Science, and then apply to the CDF.
It's something thats always been in the back of my head. Get to help people, even though I think most people are idiots. You still have to be forgiving. Pay is great, benefits are awesome. The work schedule kicks ass. And it's pretty honorable. And lets face it, Firefighting is sexy. I'll be knee deep in pussy.
Classes start September.

Congrats! How long do you have to go to school for?

When I grow up, I'm going to Bovine University!

hahaha...
Wait so you are studying to be a firefighter?
-
Well, that's cool. Dangerous as hell and given all I've learned about fire in the last few years there's no freaking way in hell you'd get me to do it, but more power to you. It's definitely one hell of a job.
And what do you need pussy for? You're already spoken for.

I've always wanted to be a firefighter. Most of it is probably get-the-cat-outta-the-tree type stuff, but thats probably a good thing. You gotta be built, though. Those suits that they wear are not light. That's probably tied in with the whole knee deep in pussy thing.

Try not to throw up when they make you run up 10 stories in full gear carrying the hose.

Hehe, I was being facetious about the pussy thing, Meg was sitting right here talking to me as I posted. Then I promptly got slugged in the shoulder.
As for the physical part, thats kind of why I have been trying to get into better shape. Just kind of preparing myself for it. I think I need some more strength training, which is kind of what I've been doing lately, but I think I'll be able to handle it. I've seen some pretty out of shape, and scrawny as hell firefighters, they seem to handle it just fine.
Firefighting is dangerous, sure. But so is everything really. I think thats somewhat of a misconception too. It's pretty rare that a Firefighter actually dies in a fire. I've actually looked into this. If a firefighter dies while on duty--it can be of a heart attack while sitting at the station, it is counted as dying in the line of duty, and is noted in statistics. Actually Firefighters more commonly die when not on a call. It's hardy the most dangerous job you can have. I think Truck Driver is a more dangerous occupation.
I'm going to study to be a firefighter. I could just go down to CDF and go through the tests, but I think going to college and learning more about it will help my chances of passing the CDF tests significantly. I mean, I know fire is hot, and I know what a Halligan tool is. But thats basically it.

Holy shit. I will have a friend who is a firefighter. That's awesome.
Also say hi to Meg for us.

Congratulations. Glad you got into what you're interested in.

Congrats Scary! ;D

I fear the vagina one can get knee deep in. Really, who would want that?
