Movie about Idi Amin's rule in Uganda from the perspective of his physician. It's a surprisingly well done movie, and Forest Whitaker simply depicts this ruthless general perfectly.
It's absolutely no surprise that Whitaker's winning most of the best actor awards this year.
Definitely worth watching.

I kind of wanted to check it out. Whitaker is an odd guy, I was happy to hear that he pulled off the performance. I always sort of liked him for no reason, but he's done a lot of crappy roles.

I heard that this was excellent, I've been meaning to check it out. I read a fascinating article about Ugandans watching this, and their take on both the movie and the history on which it is based. I'll post if it I can find it again.

Yea if you find that article I would very much like to read it. It was a very interesting movie, and showed footage of the real Idi Amin as well as the country celebrating after he was overthrown in 1979.

Article (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/18/world/africa/18uganda.html)
Interesting to see the reaction of the people of which the movie is based. Now I just need to see the movie. :P

I love this (from Wikipedia)
It is said that he gave himself the title "His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea, and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular."

haha gpw has been editing everything.

It's actually been like that for months so I think it's accurate. I did once come across a Wikipedia article where the source was listed as "OJ Simpson." That was pretty funny. I sent some kind of submission to the folks at Wikipedia and it was corrected minutes later.

I've always liked Whitaker, as well.
His characters in movies and the movie themselves that he has been in, has ranged from "meh" to "pretty good."

I know, I was just kidding. But even the acronym for that title would be really long.

That would be one long-ass title, hehe.
That would probably be up there w/ Borat's actual full title -- Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
Also up there w/ the long title of Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood.

Just finished watching this movie.
Hell of a movie.
And wow....Whitaker was great.
