Title: Sublime
Post by: Quemaqua on Saturday, March 10, 2007, 07:42:47 PM
Looks kind of interesting. (http://www.ifilm.com/video/2820127)  Did this one just go straight to DVD?  I hadn't heard anything about it until an ad on TV a little bit ago.

I wonder if it's at all like Jacob's Ladder.

A guy on IMDB drew a lot of comparisons between the two, stating one scene that he thought was an outright ripoff.  Being a big fan of that movie, it concerned me a little, but I'd really have to see it myself to know.  It still looked interesting.

That whole 'tree on the chest thing' is awesome.  Straight out of Carnivale...which you should all really watch.  Seriously....right now.  Download the first episode if that's what it takes, but watch it.

I've considered it.  But I have no monies.  And piracy is bad.  I mean fun.  Wait, no, I mean bad.

Just download the first episode...or rent it.  Trust me.

Carnivale was awesome, they should've let them do a third season to finish up the story...or at least an HBO movie. I liked Deadwood, but it was nowhere near as good as Carnivale.

I believe they offered a deal to do two or three movies to finish it up, but he wouldn't do it.  Aparently he had the whole thing planned out from the start to consist of three 'books' with each 'book' being made out of two seasons.  He basically said there would be no way to do it in the movies while retaining the quality he wanted and there was no way he'd be able to tie up all the loose threads in that ammount of time....or something.

It really is a shame, but in an interview he did reveal quite a bit about where it was going and it was pretty interesting.

I also agree about Deadwood, it was very good, but no where near as great as Carnivale.  Probably the best TV show I've ever seen.

Well I watched this.  I liked it, but feel that it kind of went in a different direction then both I thought it was going to and I thought it should go.  Not much else to say if no one else has seen it.
