Title: Harsh Times
Post by: iPPi on Monday, March 12, 2007, 12:05:50 AM
I saw this movie tonight... stars Christian Bale.  It's a gangster style movie, about an ex-range (Bale) who tries to recover his life and find a decent job (as a police officer), but he's pretty screwed up and stuff.

Anyway, it's an alright movie.  Nothing spectacular.  Feels quite a bit like Training Day.

I was surprised to see that this movie was first released in 2005, considering I only recently heard about it.  I guess it got a botched release.

I like Bale.

Christian Bale is a lot like an Edward Norton type of actor -- regardless of *what* movies he seems to be in and regardless of how *good* (or *not-so-good*) the movie he is in actually is, he always seems to always be great in his movies.

I ain't seen Harsh Times yet.

I think he's been in way too many intense, seious roles.  He needs some lighter hearted fare, I think.

Agreed.  His voice was brilliant for Howl's Moving Castle.  I generally can't watch anime in English, but the dub for that was all around awesome.

Very true and valid point.  All the roles we've seen Christian Bale in have been very heavy and serious movies and characters.  It would definitely be interesting to see him in a comedy or something like that.

Yea, I love the guy, but it'd be nice if we were allowed to see a bit more range from him as we're all well aware that he's capable of more than just being brooding and menacing.
