NEW - 9-2-2010:
Bluesnews -> IS DNF finally done? George B of 3DR tweets a picture of "pigs fly".
Remember, he said a long time ago (2006) that DNF would be done "when pigs fly." (http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&boardid=1&threadid=113768)
OLD:
Hmmm.....Jeremy Soule might just be working on DNF....or, well, some other project that will be available "when it's done!!!" (http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/773/773648p1.html)
Jeremy Soule on DNF Soundtrack?
March 18, 2007 - Duke4.net seems to believe that acclaimed composer Jeremy Soule is going to be working on the soundtrack for 3D Realms' Duke Nukem Forever. Here's why:
Insider: Are you working on any projects right now? What can we expect to hear from you in the near future?
Jeremy Soule: Well, I'll leave one hint… "When it's done!!!"

Like Britney Spears, people just shouldn't talk about DNF anymore. I mean... it's pointless.
-
Like Britney Spears, people just shouldn't talk about DNF anymore. I mean... it's pointless.
Concurrence.
-
I'm sure just like the game engines, 3D Realms has probably already changed composers for DNF about 3-4 times by now....hehe....
-
Who cares.
-
Like Britney Spears, people just shouldn't talk about DNF anymore. I mean... it's pointless.
-
You know you're all going to buy it when it comes out in 2015 anyway, don't lie.
-
For sure, but I am sick of hearing about it. PCG recently talked about how they found it hilarious that the developers were sick of people asking them heh.
-
You know you're all going to buy it when it comes out in 2030 anyway, don't lie.
Possibly.
-
You know, he's right I am going to buy this, and I'm going to be super critical about it too. This long to develop, with that much polish I best be able to see my face reflecting in it!
Well you get my point with this much time in development I'm expecting a highly polished game with a a healthy (read: above average) amount of content. I'm not holding out much hope for how it looks though it could still surprise me there.
-
I don't care what anyone says, regardless of if its Take Two or 3D Realms -- DNF probably will not make 2008. :P (http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/35538/Duke-Nukem-Forever-in-2008)
-
I was thinking about it the other day... I really loved the Duke games. It's been long enough now that I could actually want a new one (or to get a port of DN3D happening on my system). I really wouldn't mind if this one came out and turned out to be pretty awesome.
-
If DNF turns out really good then I'll have no trouble picking it up. But it really is quite a joke at this point.
-

I have Duke 3D and its Plutonium expansion. Yes, it rocked!
I don't follow Duke much -- but DN3D did have its Source Code released. Anything running natively yet on XP or Vista???
Hmmm....It is DOS-Based....I wonder if it would work in DOS-Box?!?!?
And yes, that 2001 trailer for DNF on that page did look pretty sweet, too. It looked like it would just be like the Duke over-the-top style fun we know and love.
But, damn -- 3D Realms, WTF is up w/ taking so long and so many damn engine changes??? Get it done and since it took soooooooooo long, it better be awesome!
Someone tell Duke to go out and finally get some bubble gum!
-

I bet if and when the game comes out, there has to be a Special Edition -- all games have it.
And DNF: Special Ed should have a Making Of The Game that is so long and so extensive (just like this game's history) big, it'll be on TWO or THREE DVD's!!!
-
This long to develop, with that much polish I best be able to see my face reflecting in it!
haha.

Don't worry about DNF??!?!
Hell, I ain't worried about it for years. :P (http://www.actiontrip.com/rei/comments_news.phtml?id=121707_4)
Don't You Worry 'Bout Duke Nukem Forever
[Uros "2Lions" Jojic] 02:05 am EST @ December 17th, 2007
VE3D is reporting on an update by a developer (Scott Maclean) who is supposedly working on Duke Nukem Forever levels (I say "supposedly" because I just, ugh...). According to Scott, the work on Duke Nukem Forever is "going well."
Going well, eh? In Spok years I presume?
Scott Maclean : Six months since I updated. Not much has changed - everything is still going well. Things at work continue to make me jazzed to get up in the morning. Our team is just top-notch. I've been enjoying working on the levels I've been assigned, and everybody is responding well to the work I'm doing. In addition, the other designers continue to pump out work that just blows my mind. I'm really looking forward to the day when we can start showing off what we've been doing.
-
Six months since I updated. Not much has changed
ugh... that about sums it up.
-
TF2 took 7 years to show up, and it was totally worth the wait.

Woah! (http://www.3drealms.com/news/2007/12/dnf_teaser_video.html)
DNF Teaser Video coming tomorrow
Last Saturday we had our annual company Christmas party. It was a lot of fun as usual but it featured one special surprise. It turns out that several people had been secretly working late nights and into the wee hours of the morning preparing a special video for those at the party. They created a short teaser for Duke Nukem Forever.
After seeing the teaser we thought it was something we should share with all of you and while it's just a teaser, rest assured more is coming.
Tomorrow, Wednesday the 19th, around noon CST, we will release the first teaser trailer from Duke Nukem Forever. To tide you over until then, there has been a screen shot taken from the teaser and posted in our forums. Check it out here.
Thank you for being fans of the game and for your continued patience.
We'd like to thank the people on the team that worked so hard to create this teaser and the friends of 3DR that helped create it (Jeremy Soule and Julian Soule, Frank Bry, Jason Evigan and of course, Jon St. John).

*gets my eyes checked*
A DNF trailer?!?!
How the fuck did that happen?!?!
-
That teaser shot has been wallpaper'd
-
haha, me too.
George B had some things to say about the current hype train on Shacknews:
Guys just to manage expectations...
This is a teaser. It's not a full blown trailer like the 2001 trailer (but something like that is coming). I tried to be clear about that in the message board post, so just bear in mind that it's a teaser :)
Enjoy.
It'll be an hd video, probably about a minute long and 100 megs or so.
-
After over a decade of waiting, it's about time somebody released a teaser video of the game in its current form. Of course, the very word "teaser" gives us the impression that it'll be less than 30 seconds long and have little to no bearing on the actual gameplay. If you've been waiting over 10 years to see Duke puff a high-resolution cigar, then good for you! If not, feel free to join us in the Land of Expected Disappointments tomorrow (with well roasted crow on standby).
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/18/duke-nukem-forever-teaser-coming-tomorrow/
;D
-
Meh. A teaser. So what. I standby my original statement from March.
-
ummm... anyone else think that teaser shot belongs on the front page of that softcore gay site that used to be AllOutGames?
No?.... ok.
-
I don't have the energy to be as cynical as I am about so many things. No matter how mismanaged the franchise has been, I'll totally watch it.
-
(http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/12/duke-nukem-forever-teasersh.jpg)
The whole look, the whole swagger, the whole tough-guy-thing....
Kind of reminds of someone....
Maybe...Ron Perlman?
Hmmm...maybe Rob Perlman w/ shades and on steroids...?
-
I get a Bruce Willis vibe
-
Yeah, I'm getting a little of that.
-
I am getting a "This is big practical joke you suckers" kinda vibe...
-
Shacknews has the trailer (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50464). I lost the youtube link I had, but its up there as well.
-
Oh, the things we get all riled up for.
-
Hail to the.... teaser?!?!?!?
Naw...
I want more in-game footage....
-
Cool.
-
Seeing that pig cop got me all hot and bothered.
-
Heh, not bad. I was expecting worse. I'm not gonna' go get excited, but I do want to see some gameplay now.
-
gaaaaay.
-
Meh. That was supposed to create hype? It was better than the fucking thumbnail that they gave us a year or so ago, but lets not kid ourselves - anything less than a great game at this point and DNF will be a disaster.
Also, Youtube link (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZUN7mHUtzno).
-
The thing is the trailer was put together by a couple guys working off hours so they could show it at their christmas party. Thats cool and all, but it probably wasnt the best idea to break your media blackout with it. Wait for the full trailer thing.

This is all very true this isn't the 'trailer' you want to break a blackout with. It's too bad they had a situation where they could knock us on our collective ass's after seeing nothing for so long... too bad. Really after all this time the next time I hear anything about his game must be either a knock out 'OMG' trailer to get me interested again or a release date. I'm not taking interest in this until there's something of substance (no extra small pics, no gay gym pictures etc)... this has too be the worlds longest cocktease.

George Broussard of 3D Realms answers some questions on Shacknews (http://blog.shacknews.com/blogarticle.x/50481)
There is a slight chance you have seen this teaser trailer we premiered for Duke Nukem Forever, a new game from 3D Realms, the company that made Shadow Warrior. Seems like it could be pretty hot! For some info about its storied past, check out our detailed chronicle of events.
In even newer news, 3D Realms co-owner and regular Shack user George Broussard tonight answered questions from Shackers about Duke Nukem Forever in an inquisitive chat thread. Though he was often understandably reluctant to give many concrete details before the full media blitz begins, there are some encouraging bits. Since most of our readers are not regular chatty readers, we figured we'd pass those comments along here.
oatmela: what engine is it using? Not bashing at all, just curious.
Broussard: Unreal. I believe we branched off somewhere around the Unreal 2 time when they added static meshes. Since then we've redone the rendering 100% and it's a fully modern engine.
jimvolk: Now that the game has been through such a long development process and revisions, will it still be a LONG game? or will it be a fairly short experience (ala Prey)? Surely after 9-10 years, we can all hope for a decent length game, and a wide multiplayer experience.
Broussard: The game has not been one continuous game worked on. It's probably re-started 3+ times due to various issues. The current (and last) version is 2004-ish. As for game length we should be similar to competitive games in our genre.
Continue on for the rest of the interview.
Unleashed: how long does it take for one of your characters/monsters(duke for example) to get modeled/textured and ingame?
Broussard: 6 weeks?
Sturm08: What's your favorite part of the game so far?
Broussard: I like environment puzzles, and blowing the heads and arms off of things.
smacknca: any regrets breaking the long media silence with this teaser? its pretty obvious many people didnt quite get the whole 'this is just a teaser made by some cool folks at 3DR for the holidays and we wanted to share with the world'
Broussard: Gotta start somewhere. No regrets. With our development history if you let regrets bother you, you'd jump off the nearest roof. Onward and upward.
omnova: Is environment interactivity going to be a bullet point in the game's feature list?
Broussard: Big, big, yes.
pyrogen: Will it have over-the-top gibs flying everywhere? You know, the old-fashioned kind with body chunks and blood trails everywhere.
Broussard: Yes. But in a way that makes sense. Shotguns pull limbs off, but not a machine gun or pistol. Explode something or set off a pipe bomb and you can remove limbs that are within splash range and take enough individual damage. But yes, gibs are back.
Mister Groin: Which do you prefer? Boxes or barrels?
Broussard: To hide behind....unbreakable boxes and non explosive barrels. To shoot at, the opposite :)
edgewise: How many lines of dialog are you recording for Duke?
Broussard: We're definitely going to record 'I'm gonna kill you old school."
painangel: will I be able to impale aliens with a raging man unit ala brock samson?
Broussard: No, but maybe a forklift.
...
Broussard: Gotta run guys. Sorry. More later. We have a lot of work to do, but we really appreciate the interest and support shown today (even if you didn't like it, you checked it out, and that's cool).

In all seriousness, it's great to see Duke back in action--I still have the original 1997 PC Gamer with the Duke Nukem Forever cover story--and all signs point to this time being the real deal.
-
I am sick of the attention this shit gets. This game could still not be released for five years, leaving everyone looking like fools.
-
It's nice it's back in the news and all -- but seriously, I won't believe it's done even if I hear it's Gold.
Not until I see it on shelves in stores, will I believe DNF is here.
Rumor has it GameSpot and PCG are bidding on who will review it exclusively first and give it a perfect score. :P
-
No its not nice that it's back in the news, because this isn't news, this is nothing. We already knew the engine and everything about the game had to be scrapped and re-done, and this trailer doesn't show us anything of value.
It'll be nice to see this game back in the news when they've got something worth while to speak about like the plot, the gameplay, gameplay vids or hardware req's etc etc. Even the publisher said they're ofering a bonus to the developers to finish it by x date wouldn't be news becuase they've already did that.
-

Exactly. That's what makes this so sick.
Duke Nukem Forever is the Paris Hilton of gaming.

Duke Nukem Forever is the Paris Hilton of gaming.
Wait, Duke doesn't look anorexic, though...
-
Exactly. That's what makes this so sick.
Duke Nukem Forever is the Paris Hilton of gaming.
Well put.
-
I'd say it's more like the Britney Spears of gaming, but that's just me.
-
I don't find either analogy appropriate. Duke hasn't really done anything particularly bad, he just hasn't made a showing in a long ass time. What, suddenly the rest of the franchise doesn't matter anymore? Duke, Duke 2, and Duke 3D were all awesome games. Just because there were a few mediocre console outings and whatever while waiting for the thus far poorly-handled Duke 4... so what? I fail to see where all the angst comes from. If the game comes out and turns out to be great, who gives a fuck? Obviously mismanagement happened somewhere, and it feels silly having waited for so long, but hopefully that was simply a mistake that doesn't affect the end product, just its development time alone.
-
I don't think anyone's writing off the franchise in this thread. My 'angst' is more directed at 2 things; how long this has taken to go around in circles and Ds suggestion that this recent 'news' is something worth while. I think I've made my position pretty clear here; though it boggles the mind that it's taking this long, I'll take no further interest in this game until there's something of substance to actually read/watch and discuss - this doesn't mean I've written the game or the franchise off, I'm just sick of the total lack of anything every time 3D Realms opens it's mouth. I guess I'm frustrated that I've waited this long for the sequel to a game I loved playing back in the day - stop teasing me already! :(
-
I'm hoping the trailer is the start of things. Now w/ Duke having a new trailer now, 3D Realms just better run a freight train of DNF stuff flooding the market. I want to see some gameplay footage, some in-depth interviews, etc etc. I want this game out in 2008. I want this game to be great. And yes, I know my wants are probably VERY unrealistic. :P
But, yeah -- Duke's definitely long OVERDUE for a new FPS game. :P I mean, Christ -- the last real Duke game from 3D Realms was on DOS.
Hopefully, the ball gets rollin' here w/ this thing...
If things don't materialized again w/ DNF, eh -- then you know, maybe 3DR should just call Human Head Studios and have them make DNF, since that idea seemed to have worked for Prey.
-
This makes me want to play Manhattan Project again.
-
Wait, Duke doesn't look anorexic, though...
*sigh*
Please note I said Duke Nukem Forever... not Duke... not Duke Nukem... and certainly not the entire Duke Nukem franchise. I am not comparing the past achievements of the franchise, nor what it stood for, nor what it might achieve some day. I am just comparing what Paris Hilton does to make the news with what DNF does to make the news, which is absolutely nothing.
Honestly, I am really fucking tired of hearing about the game. Whenever someone involved with that intellectual property so much as breaks wind, the game is in the news as if it were the second coming of Christ. I mean ask yourself, is there anything substantial you've seen on the game's development?
Paris Hilton makes the news for activities that are totally meaningless, even in the paper thin celebrity gossip world, which says a lot. Every time I am tricked into reading an article about Paris Hilton, I end up wondering what it was that made it newsworthy.
With DNF, it could be the dev team hiring an artist to paint their respective ball sacks, or someone leaking a useless sprite, or some other meaningless shit. The fact is that none of these news items report anything substantial on when the game is going to be released, what it is going to look like, how it will innovate, and how much its going to kick ass.
After having read at least a 100 different reports on DNF over the past few years, I expect to have some idea on the game.
Even this trailer thing, which I refuse to watch, isn't really an official trailer is it? It was some developers idea of a Christmas joke or something right?
Take a look at a highly anticipated game like StarCraft II. While there have been a couple of inane reports involving domain registrations and job postings, the game's development has been largely kept under wraps. Blizzard didn't leak anything till there was something to show, and fans responded to that.
Yet while you can't say if DNF will come in the next decade, you can say that there will plenty of other useless news items on the game.
this doesn't mean I've written the game or the franchise off, I'm just sick of the total lack of anything every time 3D Realms opens it's mouth.
Those whores. haha.
-
Im totally with Pug on this.
-
O... kay. I fail to see why it's worth getting so hot and bothered over, but whatever.
-
hahaha... I am not hot and bothered :P
I am bored though.
-
I am bored though.
Go play...DUKE 3D! :P
-
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
-
You typed (and probably copy and pasted all that) a few times?
Yuh, you must be bored :P
TF2 is a good boredom-ender.
-
I think you have to blame the news outlets more than 3D Realms, though. 3DR hasnt shown or said anything really since the 2001 trailer. Maybe just a few "We're still working on it"'s, but nothing major. The only leaks I can think of were the tiny thumbnail images they released for their job postings. Its the news sites that blow it up into some frenzy.
-
Can't we just blame both? :P
-
I blame D.
-
And his 'jokes'. :P
-
I blame D.
And his 'jokes'. :P
Ain't me and my "jokes" two-in-the-same? :o

Bluesnews reports that Shacknews has witnessed DNF actually being played. (http://bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=87294)
DNF Sighting [April 29, 2008, 09:42 am ET] - 35 Comments
Shacknews (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/52423) has brief word that they've gotten the chance to witness Duke Nukem Forever being played first-hand, though they were apparently not allowed to lay hands on 3D Realms' long-in-development shooter. Their impressions are a bit vague, but very positive, as they come away saying the game looks like it "will easily stand apart from the crowd in both visual and gameplay styles." Hopefully that crowd will not be QUAKE VII and Unreal Tournament 2015.
LOL @ that last bolded line.
Shacknews
Here's what Shacknews wrote about it (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/52423)
easer was released last December.
However, that all changed recently. For a good half hour Shacknews witnessed several different DNF gameplay scenarios, mechanics, and environments being demonstrated.
We actually got to see the truth of Duke curator George Broussard's many past claims, including environmental puzzles and interactivity, a host of finished weapons, the existence of an in-game forklift, and plenty of heads and arms being blown off.
We both confidently agree that after seeing this demonstration, Duke Nukem Forever is looking great, and will easily stand apart from the crowd in both visual and gameplay styles.
Update: George Broussard of 3D Realms has made a brief comment (http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?id=16829232) in this story.
Shacknews can also confidently state that, contrary to previous reports, Duke 4 will not be arriving in 2003.
George B's comment to Shacknews
Now, here's what George B said in response to Shacknews breaking the news (http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?id=16829232)
Heh. You guys give Steve/Maarten a break. :) The situation was this....Maarten was in town and was leaving on Monday, or something. I'd talked to Maarten a week or so earlier about dropping by to checking something else out. It was Friday and time was getting late, so I asked Maarten if he and Steve wanted to drop by. Sadly, I asked about dognose too, but Maarten said he had to work till 8pm that Friday.
So they came over and we checked out some stuff and out of the blue I just decided to show them DNF for about an hour. We ran through a couple of maps and chatted about stuff and we asked for some feedback. It was pretty unofficial and off the cuff and just done because I've known the guys for a long time and they were local, and what the fuck. They are being secretive/light on info because of obvious reasons, but just wanted to post and say "hey, we saw it and it's real".
-
Well, weren't there screenshots of real levels and whatnot 10 years ago? I'll believe in this game when I hear it goes gold.
-
Well, weren't there screenshots of real levels and whatnot 10 years ago? I'll believe in this game when I hear it goes gold.
Yes, back when it was on the Quake 2 Engine.
Last we heard, it's on a heavily modified Unreal Engine 2.0.
I don't think they've switched to Unreal Engine 3.0, but knowing 3DR, who knows...
-
I wonder how much has been spent on DNF at this point, and how many copies they have to sell to break even. The entire thing just seems like an investment nightmare.
-
Dunno if y'all seem this from Jace Hall's show, but there's some DNF footage there.
It's from 4:18 to 4:45.... (http://crackle.com/c/Jace_Hall/Jace_Hall_Ep_1_Duke_Nukem_Forever_-_SNEAK_PEEK/2298717/#ml=o%3D12%26fpl%3D297045%26fx%3D)
Not much, but that's more than we've seen in like...I dunno, probably since old footage of when it was on the Quake 2 Engine??
-
This game will never be released. It is not newsworthy. We might as well start talking about Too Human or something. I don't understand how 3D Realms hasn't gone out of business yet.
Edit: Interesting... A demo of Too Human apparently just came out and the full game is supposed to come out next month.
-
That was quite an entertaining clip.
I have to say this, skepticism aside... if the game actually comes out, looks that good, plays like classic Duke with some twists, and has a meaty campaign with good humor, I will buy it day one and enjoy the hell out of it and feel no shame in doing so.
-

Same here.
Though, I'll always wonder why it took 12+ years to make this, regardless of how great it is or isn't, though...
I'm sure that a documentary story behind the making of this game would be great stuff to see on a DVD Collector's Edition, hehe.
Regardless, Wired.com has let The King Of Vaporware Keep His Title! (http://www.wired.com/culture/culturereviews/news/2008/12/YE8_vaporware?currentPage=1)
All hail The King, baby....ummm...yeah...
-
Man, those wired lists are always so ridiculous. Maybe I just don't know what vaporware actually means, but I always assumed it was shit that either didn't exist or wasn't going to ever come out. Wired's record on that is horrendous and always consists of shit that people want really badly but just isn't out yet. DNF is one thing, but Starcraft II....really?
I remember last year they had shit on it like Diablo III (what?), Spore (out), The Optimus Maximus keyboard (out, lame), the Tesla Roadster (in production last I heard), and Chinese Democracy (well, can't blame them there). I just went and checked and they also had 802.11N and XP service pack 3. That's 7/10 that are either on the market right now or very close to being so (and looking at car development, the Roadster isn't extraordinarily delayed). As for the other ones, apart from Duke Nukem Forever, they could be out as far as I know.
-
I agree, but I have to side with Wired on XP SP3 though. At this time last year, I don't even think SP3 was announced and it sucked doing new installs of XP even if you had a disc with SP2 slipstreamed. There were a hundred updates beyond SP2 that you had to install. SP3 was badly needed.
-
Duke just won't die, man...
Finish the freaking game, dammit...
3 mins of DNF footage. (http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?story=62182)
