Title: Hardrive help
Post by: Pugnate on Thursday, March 22, 2007, 10:33:50 AM
So I need to get a new HD. Just a question since I don't know much about HDs... is there a performance difference between a standard HD and a SATA II? They are the same price, but I will have to be very creative with my casing space to install a SATA II and it could be difficult.

Also how important is HD cache?

Why will it be hard to install a SATA II hdd?

Well cause there is no space at the bottom of my case which is where the SATA II connector is. I've currently got my two HDs sitting below my DVD drives.

SATA cables come up to 1 meter, and probably longer than that if you don't mind that they're out-of-spec. How big is your case if this even matters?

Asus Vento 3600

Pretty big but the cable I have is really short and is blocked by a 12'' video card.

You're buying a new hard disk for a computer with a surfboard-sized video card, but you can't afford to buy a $4-7 cable?
