Title: I need some networking help

Or at least I have a question.  Is it possible to set up a wireless network to share files and say, play Losercra....um, Starcraft with just a wireless router and XP or do you need a wireless access point as well?

You should be able to set up and ad hoc network between two computers with just two pcs with wireless network cards if that is what you are asking.

The average SOHO wireless router is really a switch, a router, and a wireless access point built into one.

The answer to your question is yes, you can set up a wireless network with just a wireless router.
