Alanis decides to sing, of all songs, "My Humps" -- and shoot a video for it!!!
Ummm....am I missin' something here....? :o
This sure as hell doesn't sound like the original song by Black Eyes Peas.
It sounds like pure Alanis -- quite whiny and quite slow.
Can't just help but laugh at the funny vid, itself.
Alanis covers "My Humps" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W91sqAs-_-g&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fpopwatch%2Eew%2Ecom%2Fpopwatch%2Findex%2Ehtml)

Hahaha! That's a joke, no doubt. Released a couple of days ago, maybe? Her voice is lovely anyway. I'm laughing my ass off listening to it singing these horrendous lyrics as some sort of tragic ballad. ;D

From what I gather, yes -- brand new "cover."
Her voice is lovely anyway.
Yes, she has a great voice.

Hehe, Alanis looks quite different, trying to have that "Fergie" look goin' on and all, in that vid. hehe.
-
haha, that was awesome. I want more covers in this vein.
-
I saw that vid a couple days ago, it really exposes My Humps for the pointless crap that it is. Although, that little fact wasn't exactly news to me.

The Black Eyed Peas are one of the most worthless and idiotic musical outfits in music today, and Alanis Morisette couldn't sing her way out of a fucking paper bag. I hope they all die. In car accidents.
-
Are you sure? A car accident might be quick.
-
Yeah, like Ant said it really exposes the retarded lyrics of the song.
Read the comments. People are actually saying Fergie's version of the song was a parody in the first place. A parody of what?
-
These are the same people who popped open a dictionary to look up the word 'parody'.

A parody??!?!!?
Oh, I doubt Fergie's version's a parody...
Fergie's just boasting about herself and what she (and some other people will probably do) to get whatever they want; it's that simple, if you ask me.
Funny part, is that it says on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_humps) that Perez Hilton has reported that Fergie sent Alanis flowers, saying how much she actually loved the Alanis cover of her song and video.
Of course, Fergie probably does b/c it puts her "old" song right back into the spotlight -- and in a sense, it will probably help her sell more copies of the BEP Albums and her most recent solo album....It's like free publicity for her...
-
Good point. It doesn't help Alanis her in that she is a bit of a has-been. Much more of an artist than Fergie, but still largely irrelevant.
-
My understanding is that Alanis couldn't handle real stardom, so she elected to back away. I don't think of her as a "has been", maybe a "never wanted to be"?
-
Maybe she finally realized she can't sing.
-
Not often do I disagree with you down to the core. Normally, just the opposite. This is one of those rare times.
-
Well, you aren't alone. She has many fans. I just couldn't possibly hate her voice any more than I do, which is no surprise considering the kind of female vocalist that I appreciate. Try checking out Velour 100 (http://www.myspace.com/velour100) and the specifics become rapidly apparent as to why Alanis doesn't do it for me. Amon Krist is probably my favorite vocalist of all time.

In somewhat the same vein, an acoustic version of Hey Ya by Outkast that I really enjoy.
