Title: I need a new watch.
Post by: ScaryTooth on Thursday, April 05, 2007, 09:56:44 AM
Mine is scratched to hell. It's just one of those cheap $30 deals. I've used the hell out of it, and it's been great. But I'm looking to get a nice new one. I was just curious as to what you guys wear. So I can maybe get some ideas.

I hate wearing watches. If anything, I prefer a pocket watch. I just don't like the feeling on my wrist. My dad and grandpa are the same way, so maybe it's genetic.

I have an Oakley GMT watch that I got when I was at Vegas.  I think it was $750 US?

I also have an Armani watch that was $500 but was a gift from my parents for high school graduation.

I wear a CK watch. I don't like most modern looks and prefer simple elegant looks.

I have a pocket watch.  It's kinda big, but also lets me talk to people while I'm on the move.   ;)

I hate wearing watches too.

A while back I thought wearing a watch was pointless since I carry my cellphone, but I just love wearing a watch. I guess I am old fashioned.

I didn't used to like wearing one wither. Wrist straps bugged me, and such. But I started wearing one a year or so ago, and I've goten used to it. Now I like to have a watch.

I was thinking a watch more in the $100-$150 price range. I'm not rich, or fancy enough for a $500 plus watch...yet.

I picked it up a few weeks ago with my march bonus at work.  I like it a lot.

It really wasn't that long ago that we had a giant watch thread.  I'm sure I linked mine in there somewhere.  It was about $80, I think.  Fossil.  Very nice... Julia got it for me for my birthday.  Or Christmas.  Or something.

My fossil watch recently stopped working. I think I need to get the battery replaced, but I really liked it.

Yeah, probably just the battery.  And even if not, mine had like an 11 year unlimited warranty or something.  Crazy.

I love watches. There was a period in my teens where (I was a sad fella) I would wear four or five up my arm at one time. I still have them all, but now I alternate between two. My Christmas present from the missus, a Caravelle with a black face and silver everything else, and a Storm given to me by my Mum for my 18th - It has two faces in glass bubbles.

I'm not a big fan of wrist watches, so I just use pocket watches.  A month or so ago I got a Final Fantasy XII pocket watch off of Ebay for like $12, bootleg obviously, but it tells the time and has the nifty FFXII logo.  It has held up very well, (no scratches or anything) even when I'm at work.

I like the look of some of the Fossil watches, but you should just get a nifty watch from Think Geek. (http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/watches/)

Right now I'm using a Seiko divers watch:

It doesn't need batteries, which is cool, but it doesn't really keep time that accurately - every couple of weeks I have to recalibrate it by a few minutes. Maybe mine's just a dud.

OLED watch for $100?  Fuck yes! (http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/watches/8e18/)

I should get it for idol.  It would have 2GB of the Mexican booby channel.

EDIT - This place is awesome!  They also sell my Christmas gift from my father in law (http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/rc/8d19/), known to anyone that knows us as "Possible Least of World".  It's a long story, but it's a fun toy.

Really odd you mentioned that watch. On my flight back to Nashville I was browsing through that Sky Mall magazine they always have and I saw it and thought how inexpensive it was. Only drawback is the battery life but still, thats not bad at all.

I have a new one that's about $20 or something.  My mom bought it for me as a temporary replacement for my other watch.  But even if my other watch gets fixed, i can't wear it ever again because of the old heart.

Bah.

My sister went to hongkong and was shopping around for one for me but couldn't find any nice ones.. so i'm stuck with my one now.. it's just a casio illuminator, small, simple and black.. it can tell time and has a light but doesn't glow in the dark
