Operation Flashpoint 2 announced and planned for 2008. (http://bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=77152)

Wow been a while!
-
I liked the first quite a bit, at least the demo was really damn good. I didn't play the full version too much though.
-
Cool. Hopefully it's a little more tightly coded than the original.

This is kind of like the Crytek/Ubisoft situation over Far Cry.
OpFlash was made by Bohemia Interactive, and published by Codemasters. Bohemia went and made ArmA (Armed Assault) which is kind of OpFlash 1.5, and are now working on the real sequel to OpFlash. Unfortunately, Codemasters owns the Operation Flashpoint name, so it won't be named as such.
Codemasters is making Operation Flashpoint 2 by itself, without Bohemia. Jury is still out on if thats a good or bad thing.

Ooooh...that's kind of like how Sierra owns the FEAR brand name...
...But Monolith owns the rights to all the FEAR characters....and is working on the true sequel to FEAR, which will not be called FEAR 2.
...Yet, Sierra is planning a game called FEAR 2 under the FEAR brand name, but it won't be the true sequel to FEAR.

My guess is good. Codemasters has done some impressive stuff. The first OpFlash, while cool in some ways, wasn't very impressive.
-
Cool. Hopefully it's a little more tightly coded than the original.
After all they are the Codemasters.

I loved the original OpFlash. It really stood out in its time.
I checked out ArmA: Armed Assault, and I gotta say I was not liking it. The graphics are fine, but the game was just tedious most of the time. I couldn't really enjoy it.
While the prospect of OpFlash 2 seems exciting, I think I'm through with army simulators.

Overwatch DLC (DLC #2) announced. (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/61699)
X360 Version = Available now for 400 Microsoft points.
PS3 version = $5.00, when it gets released.
PC Version = Free to download, when it gets released.
"Overwatch," as the download is called, brings two "game-changing" multiplayer modes: Supremacy and Blindside. In Blindside, "the PLA must complete objectives in the shortest time possible while the USMC defends," while Supremacy sees players trying to "occupy strategically vital positions."
...The add-on also includes two new Fire Team Engagement missions--Friendly Skies, Hostile Takeover--that further extend the fight against the PLA.
Explains Codemasters of these two new FTE missions:
"In Friendly Skies, PLA anti-aircraft artillery prevents US airborne reinforcements inserting into the combat zone. Players must remove that threat and then defend the position from a PLA counter attack. In Hostile Takeover, intel reveals enemy movement in the village of Armudan, a perfect base for launching attacks deep into enemy territory. Gamers must flush out the PLA, establish a perimeter and hold their ground against a new enemy assault."
