No, seriously....what the fuck?!

Update: News from all the wire services coming in right now are claiming that the military has just announced another coup.
-
Holy crap.
-
Yeah, it looks more and more serious.
I don't understand one thing though. Is the king supporting this activity against the prime minister or is the military just pledging their support to him? I guess we will find out once some more info comes in.

There is a source that says they aren't sure what the King's involvements are.
-
Well the evening news will certainly be worth watching tonight!
-
I have a lot of family there. They are ok, but there are apparently a lot of tanks on the streets.
-
I have a few friends down there, I'm still waiting on an update from them.
-
Yea I don't think anyone was hurt. It looks like the prime minister has everything under control now.
Hey wasn't one of your girlfriends from there?
edit:
Ok looks like he isn't in power anymore.
-
Yep, one of my ex's is from there, and another girl I know (we nearly dated, but seeing as how she was an exchange student it wasn't a good idea to get attached). Man, I hope everything alright there.
-
Well, aparently coups in Thailand aren't really all that uncommon (considering most countries never have them), and they are usually handled very diplomatically, so it looks like that's pretty much the end of that.
-
My mom and brother were just there, on some cruise. Haha. She just missed the excitement. I could not understand why she wanted to go to places like Thailand and Cambodia, but whatever. If I'm going to drop that kind of cash on a world cruise, I want to go to the nice places, like Monaco and the South of France, in June.
-
Well, they haven't had one since 1991, so it hasn't happened in a while..
But who knows. It looks like they have the support of the public and the King is likely to embrace their cause, so it is only the guy in New York for the UN meeting(who is not well liked) that got screwed.
-
Yikes.
-
Interesting. And now I understand why my school's travel agency offers flights to Thailand for $250.
-
Good news, everyone I know there says it's fine, and the military seem like pretty nice guys. They told everyone to just take it as a holiday and think about peace. The Prime Minister and his family are the only ones outside the country, so as Shock said, they're the only ones getting shafted, and apparently he wasn't that popular.
-
that needs to happen in the philippines..
-
Don't worry, if everything works as planned I'll be initiating benign take-overs like that all around the globe!
"Everybody just relax, take a day off, I'll be heading your country now, just take it easy. Dave, close you butt cheeks! Just relax, let me do the talking!"
-
I could not understand why she wanted to go to places like Thailand
I don't know... because it is an awesome tourist spot?
-
So elections are set to occur within 2 weeks for an interim Prime Minister, who will then rule for 1 year while the Consitution is being written. Luckily, Sondhi(the organizer of the coup) will relinquish his power in 2 weeks(or so he says). After the 1 year time, there will be a general election.
We are sure are lucky that we don't have to go through this kind of stuff in the U.S. I mean, it is looking like everything is going to be fine, but we will know for sure in 2 weeks when Sondhi does or doesn't give up power.
-
Shit, there goes Thailand's 15-years-without-a-coup streak.
