Title: Forget Geometry Wars, play NaaC
Post by: idolminds on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 01:43:39 PM
Its awesome. (http://www.bloodymonkey.com/) And free.

Who wants to shoot plain neon shapes? BORING! What you really want to do is fly around on your jetpack as a space marine and slaughter thousands of aliens, coating the ground with their blood. You start in a single room arena. Some grubs crawl out of the floor to attack. Soon a wall explodes and larger aliens flow in...then another wall goes, until you're getting swarmed from all sides.

Includes online high score list!

Controls with a mouse and keyboard (WASD + mouse to aim), but fear not! Gamepad support is incoming! In fact if you hit up their forum theres a version you can try out right now (which  am currently downloading.)

Vaguely reminds me of Crimsonland looking at the screenshots.

I am downloading RIGHT NOW!  But yeah, looks more like Crimsonland than Geometry Wars, really.  But I loved Crimsonland and lost my paid for download, so it'd be nice to have something to get the fix.

Yeah, it is more similar to Crimsonland. I just copy and pasted my post from IGN because I didnt feel like retyping it, and they are all going apeshit over GW on Steam right now.

Of note, I downloaded the gamepad version as well. Trust me, it controls far better with the mouse and keyboard.

Heh, I think I'd prefer that anyway.  Can't wait to try it, but the wife and I will be playing SD3 for a while...

EDIT - Okay, so this game kicks all kinds of ass.  Very Crimsonlandish, but different.  It's good stuff, especially for free.  They could easily charge 10 bucks for this as an indie title, you know?  It's quality you can taste!  Try it!  Less filling!

Fun game. I've only played a couple times but my last score was right around 2,300,000. That's nowhere near the highscores, though.

Yeah, I managed around five million, but I suck.  I generally get around 4.
