Every so often I do a check at Overclocked Remix (http://www.ocremix.org) and go through a few of the newer songs. Usually there's something I like well enough to keep around and, occasionally, there's something downright awesome. Tonight I came across the later.
Cantata for Dancing: I. Mors ego sum mortis (http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01582/)
It's a remix of Dancing Mad theme (final battle music from FFVI) and falls into the catagory of remixes that work to update old music as opposed to taking it in another direction. What sets this apart is that it sounds pretty high end and if Final Fantasy VI came out today (or a remake), I'd expect the music to sound pretty much like this. I'd actually almost say it beats out One Winged Angel now as coolest Final Fantasy Boss music. I always loved the music, but to hear it like this is quite a treat. So yeah, download it.
Also, I came across another FFVI remix by Jeremy Soule. THE Jeremy Soule. It was his way of showing his support for stuff like OC Remix and paying homage to Nobuo Uematsu. Pretty cool. It's also an update of a song, this time the main theme from the game. It's worth a download as well.

Pretty sweet. I'll have to check those out when I get home from work.

Hot damn, those were both awesome! I really need to get back into checking OCRemix more often, thanks for posting those. I love hearing Terra's Theme on piano so much. I think I still know how to play a few seconds of it on piano, someone buy me a piano so I can take lessons.

Heh, I just bought a 200-something page piano book with some of the music from FFA / Secret of Mana / Seiken Densetsu 3. I'm pleased. But I don't even have a keyboard anymore. :(
