It's all official. I'll post details as I find them. Going to copy and paste some stuff from shacknews:
11:26: Mentions Wrath of the Lich King. A few discernible boos. "Arthas has set events in motion that could threaten all life in Azeroth. As soon as you set foot in Northrend, you're going to be interacting with Arthas in one form or another. It's gonna be really cool. Now Arthas is no chump, so we'll be raising the level cap to 80."
11:27: PVP features: New arenas, new battlegrounds, siege weapons, destructible buildings. New profession called Inscription. Permanently enhances player spells and abilities. The crowd oohs and ahhs at that.
11:28: Northrend plans: New zones, 5 man dungeons, 10 man raids, 25 man raids, hundreds of new quests, monsters, and items. "That stuff's all good, but even more exciting, for the first time in World of Warcraft, we're introducing the Death Knight hero class."
11:29: Showing video. Northrend looks rocky. Paladins looking up to the sky, dragon fies overhead. "It's begun. You all realize, I was once like you." Forests that are burning constantly. Some cool flame effects in dungeons, skull with fire pouring out. "The land itself can rise up against you. Long forgotten terrors will smother your courage." Giant snow creature attacks player.
11:30: "All that awaits you is death." Death Knight--paladin transforms into Death Knight, surrounded by enemies, kicks ass with black/purple magic. Ballista fires a giant projectile in siege combat. "For in the final hour, all must serve the one true King." Arthas shown briefly, glowing and stuff.

Death knight is a cross between a paladin and warlock.
So let's just hope they don't get divine shield, deathcoil, and fear, and heals.
-
Shacknews has the trailer. (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/48279) I saw some screens as well...god damn I love Blizzards art.
-
Idol, I say we wait until this comes out and the price on Burning Crusade comes down... or maybe they come out in a pack or something. Then we go back in guns blazing and just tear up both packs. Maybe Pyro will be on a new cycle by then too, haha
-
That sounds like a plan.
-
Though the more I "think" about it, the more I wonder whether or not Hellgate: London might surpass WoW for me...
-
Unfortubnately, Death Knight works like Jedi did originally in SWG. You follow some quest (probably really long and annoying), and then get to create a NEW character as a Death Knight, which starts at like level 63 (I guess cuz level 5 Death Knight would be a noob, and seem weak). I think I even read that it will only be available to certain classes or races.
EVERYONE will want to be a Death Knight. Those who can't unlock it with their current class will have to reroll, get to 80, unlock it, then finally get their DK. Yes, there will be more hero classes, but not quite yet. It would have made more sense to release at least 2-3 hero classes together so there's at least some variety, and more people have access to it without rerolling to get there.

Thats a pretty glowing review of Hellgate, because I know how much you enjoyed WoW. I hope like hell that Hellgate works as well as WoW did on dialup.

Where did you hear about this? This sounds horrible and would just destroy all balance that Blizzard tried to create amongst the other classes. Arenas will be pointless. The only way I see it working is if they severely restricted this class, like have it only be usable in Northrend. I mean really, what is the purpose of a hero class? I guess it could be useful in raiding the bigger instances, but other than that its just an excuse for further cheap ganking for people with asshole complexes.

Heres something interesting (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/04/blizzcon-breaking-news-wrath-of-the-lich-king-may-require-burni/):
One big tidbit that they dropped was the fact that The Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack may require you to have the Burning Crusade as well. Blizzard isn't sure if this will require an additional purchase, or if they will bundle it in at no extra cost. When asked how retailers might react to this, no one had any idea. If you're Joe Retailer and selling copies of Burning Crusade pretty well, will you want to put something on the shelf that will cannibalize those sales, or will you just stop carrying the older title altogether?
Blizzard is in a tricky spot here. You pretty much have to have BC to play the new content, right? How else would you level from 60 to 70 so you can then move into the 80 range. Now requiring BC is pretty much a given, but bundling it with Lich King? While awesome for those of us that havent played BC yet, it would suck for the people that did shell out for it.
-
I don't see that as that big of an issue. Bunches of other games have done similar things with expansions and content packs, and I don't recall players or retailers making a fuss over it.
-
just got back from Blizzcon..
i played both this and starcraft 2 there..
im tired though so sleepy time
-
Well, I just watched the whole WotLK panel on youtube and got some more info on Death Knights (some stuff I hadn't seen pointed out in summaries I've read from the panel).
First, they aren't meant to be more powerful than any of the other classes just because they're a hero class. Apparently the term "hero class" is going to mean "directly from Warcraft lore". DKs will be available to any race/class combination. Anyone can do the quest to unlock one. It was said in the panel that pretty much anyone who can get to level 80 will be able to do the Death Knight quest line, and he loosely compared it to the warlock epic mount quest line.
I'd love to hear from Keebs, especially about getting to trying out the expansion. 8)
-
they only let me play it for 20 minutes at a time so it was tough to see much. i used a pre-generated rogue, hunter and priest and it was pretty shitty because they didnt have trainers. (wtb higher ranked Aimed Shot)
The new zone looked outstanding though. It was a grassy/forest land with no snow. I killed some of these huge hunchback guys that seemed to be everywhere. Then I swam into the ocean and killed some orca whales with horns. Those were really neat looking. They didn't let you use flying mounts because i guess they didn't want you wandering out of the zone so it was hard to get around because of all the cliffs.
I went with only 2 people so we tried to 3 man the first instance. We took a tank, druid and rogue so with Sap we managed to get a little bit in before it got too difficult. The first instance kinda reminded me of Blood Furnace but no flames and those same huge hunchback guys instead of orcs.
-
Just been playing WoW as a new Blood Elf Warlock, (I've also got a 61 Rogue in the Outlands) and boy the new content is pretty sweet. In particular the new race areas are well thought out and the quests keep you moving in the right direction with little to no down time (read: walking long distances to do the one quest).
Anyway WoW could use some new mid game content; they've got new starting/race zones and new content for 60 to 70 and soon 70 to 80. But if you start a new character, BE or Dar, once you hit ~20 you don't se anything new again until 60, and personally I'm bored with the original zones (once I lvl this BE Lock I never want to see the barrens again and I've said similar things about STV). I just feel that one or two good ranging zones would be great; they don't have to carry you all the way from 20 to 60 or anything but another STV like zone would be awesome.
-
I haven't heard anythign about them adding new content to the 1-60 areas, but I have heard that in the expansion they'd like to speed up the 1-60 progress, maybe even the 60-70 grind too.
-
The 60-70 grind is pretty quick. I got my mage from 60-70 in 2 weeks and that was during my final exams :P.
I'd like to see 1-60 a little faster though, particularly the 30-50 zones, as they tend to be a little slow with lots of running around.
-
just cause its been a while since i've seen any of your characters
http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Tichondrius&n=Annarchy
is me..
p.s when i am not in tanking gear, i am smacking fools with my Stormherald.
p.p.s yeah yeah..i know about my 5 man but i haven't even played any games with them. we're still looking for a paladin before we start getting serious.
-
My armory links are in my signature.
My mage is obviously my main, and he's usually in his 'everyday' gear when I log. That's not what I wear to arenas, though it's pretty close. I just equip an offhand with stats, the pvp cloak, and the Netherwing trinket with +45 stam, and the pvp trinket for arenas. I site at 9753 hp unbuffed for arenas at the moment, and am saving for my arena weapon.
I got PVE gear as well, and am 3/5 in tier 4.
My priest is getting healing gear slowly, but it's difficult to work on more than one character at a time.
-
My rogue is still my main, always has been:
http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Arthas&n=Fleshfeast
That's my pvp/arena/questing gear. I wear pvp gear everywhere because I'm always looking for a fight.
My PvE gear takes a bit longer to explain. I'd switch to it on the armory, but my server is down for 48 hours. I have tier 6 gloves, chest/ring/weapons from Black Temple, shoulders from Hyjal, legs from Kael'thas, and a few pieces from kara/gruul I still need to replace. My total stats in pve gear look something like this:
1800 attack power
25% crit
240 hit rating
9% passive melee haste
My paladin is my only level 70 alt:
http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Arthas&n=Bloodritual
I pretty much only log him on for daily quests, then send all the money/pots to my rogue.
-
The release date is official: 11.13.08 (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/index.xml)
-
It will probably get delayed a bit, but I'm probably gonna reserve it. I want a Collector's Edition.
-
You think so? I mean yea Blizz games usually get delayed a number of times but when there are delays there was never really any date set for it, just speculation of which quarter of the year it would come. The beta has been around for a bit, plus the 3.0 patch is rolling out soon.
-
The 3.0.2 patch just hit PTRs. Considering the vast amount of content, it will stay on PTRs for a while before seeing live servers. There are still a lot of class changes that are still occurring every day.

They must have just put more detail into the Northrend zones and armor or something, or it's just that the new shadow settings kill the preformance that much on lower end machines. I play on the beta (though it was early beta), and the player models and such were still the same super low detail ones that we saw at WoW's launch like 4 years ago, with only head and shoulders physically changing your character's model. Now that I have a beefier system, I'd love for them to update the graphics a bit. I mean really, they seemed low rez and low detail when the game was released.
Yea, I have Lich King preordered and fully paid off, even though I bought Warhammer. I'm enjoying WAR more as a game, but my friends all refuse to leave WoW. =/
-
Well I just have another night of work to kill before the expansion. I took time off for tomorrow night and I am scheduled to have thursday off so that worked out.
From what I gathered from people here everyone that is still playing WoW is getting it at the midnight release. Those of you that have multiple level 70s, which one are you leveling first? For me its my warrior, I leveled a rogue first but ever since I rolled a warrior Ive been loving him ever since, plus Im like the main tank of the guild.
-
Mage.
Though I have considered making other toons my main, my mage is what I've played since beta and I'm really liking the direction of the mage class right now.
I'm also going to be rolling a death knight.
I have no idea how many toons beyond my mage I will get to level 80. Managing multiple level capped characters is too time consuming.
-
Resto druid! I have Naxx a week after release :o
-
Wait you guys are expected to hit 80 and raid Naxx in a week?
-
Resto druid! I have Naxx a week after release :o
My guild is also intending to start 10 man raids the Monday immediately after the release of Wrath, and 25 mans on Dec 2. There is no way in hell I am going to be 80 by then.
-
Naxx 7 days after release doesn't seem that far fetched to me. It took me 3-4 days to get to 70 in TBC, and from what I've heard leveling in WotLK might actually be faster. If the guild is in BT/Sunwell gear then they can probably manage the early Naxx fights in their existing gear.
I sold my horde rogue and paladin for $1250 a month or two back. I recently leveled a human paladin on a new server with some in game friends, and plan on rerolling Death Knight. My friends will give me 24-48 hours to get from 55 to 68 so we can all start on Northrend. They plan on powering me through a lot of the Outlands quests to make things faster and keep me from getting ganked.
-
Jeez, Im glad im in a non raiding guild. I actually want to enjoy the game and take everything in, I couldnt stand being in a situation where Im pressured to rush through everything.
-
I'm gonna level my druid quickly but I will take my time leveling on my warrior and enjoy the sights and sounds of northrend.
-
Does anybody have it? Picked it up not too long ago, still installing.
-
Yea I got it. My death knight is 61.5 and about to head to Outland. I see 4 other 61 DKs, and one 62, so I'm not far behind. :P
I would have been further ahead, but I had trouble installing. I live on the east coast, so that gave me a 3 hour head start on west coast people, but I had troubles with the intaller and didn't get logged in until 1:30. =/
-
DING! 71!
-
Got it last night at midnight release. I have to work though so I can't play until later tonight.
-
Well while I am waiting in line to get into my server, I thought Id post the screens I took.
I have to say the very first zone of Northrend is very beautiful. Compared to say Hellfire Peninsula from Outlands where everything was red and firey, the Borean Tundra is a mixed of all sorts of various landscapes. Even the alliance town Valiance Keep is one of the most unique towns as it doesnt use the same building layouts as other Alliance towns. Speaking of which, when arriving to Northrend its where you dock into harbor to.
(http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/8969/wowscrnshot111308010459ek9.jpg) (http://img143.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wowscrnshot111308010459ek9.jpg)
Here is when I was first coming into Northrend, there was actually a big group on the boat, they were just on the lower deck.
(http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/5940/wowscrnshot111308051613fb8.jpg) (http://img509.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wowscrnshot111308051613fb8.jpg)
This is a shot of Valiance Keep from afar.
(http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/7/wowscrnshot111308042942so7.jpg) (http://img527.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wowscrnshot111308042942so7.jpg)
This city ruins was a little bit outside of the Keep.
(http://img353.imageshack.us/img353/1875/wowscrnshot111308040617qx7.jpg) (http://img353.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wowscrnshot111308040617qx7.jpg)
This was from a cliff and the huge building in the distance is a horde town, Warsong Hold.
(http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/4099/wowscrnshot111308040021xq0.jpg) (http://img135.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wowscrnshot111308040021xq0.jpg)
Heres another shot of Warsong Hold away from the cliff area.
(http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/7639/wowscrnshot111308032757ij0.jpg) (http://img205.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wowscrnshot111308032757ij0.jpg)
The cliffs seperate the Borean Tundra with another land mass apart of the zone which is where the first instance is. Theres no way over there except from a post at the top of the cliff where Dalaran mages and a red dragon that will fly you there. Which leads to the most breathtaking moment so far...
(http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/7158/wowscrnshot111308040903hx0.jpg) (http://img205.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wowscrnshot111308040903hx0.jpg)
Thats the Nexus, I havent explored the area around just yet, but I made sure I got a shot of it.
(http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/9031/wowscrnshot111308063037hv7.jpg) (http://img241.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wowscrnshot111308063037hv7.jpg)
Then much further north is a gnomish Alliance point, Fizzcrank Airstrip.
And thats about all of it. So far Im really impressed with what all they did here, cant wait it move further into Northrend.
Oh yea, almost forgot, I got to ride a woolly mammoth!

-
standard UI is gross
-
Man, that looks awesome. I really want to get my death knight to Northrend soI can get tot he new content. I'm 2/3 of the way through 67, but I think I might wait until 70 to head there, so I don't get owned by hard quests or get behind in levels.
-
YOu dont have to worry about getting behind in levels..just do both Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra...they are both WOTLK starting levels so its perfect for a level 68. Quest in one till 70 then hit up the other.
-
You know how people had the worry of questing in Northrend and losing their set gear to something that made you look like a clown with an assortment of mismatched pieces of armor? Well it looks like its done a much better job at making the new greens and blues look much more uber and cool looking. Heres my warrior in Borean Tundra garb now that Ive done most of the quests.
-
... Should have expected this (http://www.worldofathene.com/records.php).
-
I don't think I'd want to be a "famous" WoW player. That's like being famous for having a growth on your neck or something. I mean, you know? I'm not saying people who play the game are dumb, but... what's to be famous about? It seems like the attached stigma would make it pretty not worth it. I can't imagine getting a lot of respect from anyone that wasn't an idiot.
-

yea but the result is that all the armor looks the same. :p While looking through all sorts of plate from 5 mans and such, I noticed that it all pretty much looks the same. I guess it's better than looking like a clown, like my DK does at the moment. He's 68 though, so I can start replacing it all now.
EDIT: the clown look:

-
That athene person is a totally tool. I've watched some of his youtube video's and can't help but shake my head in shame. I just can't see what is in WotLK that can pull me back in. You're just going to be doing the same thing that you were doing before. Grinding for faction, running the same instance every week and having some noob win some loot that you deserved more. But that's my opinion, and sadly theres not another MMO out there that can do it as well as WoW can.
-
(http://www.penny-arcade.com/images/2008/20081114.jpg)
-
I've put some time into this now and it is fantastic, when you can actually play. I've just hit 72 and finished up the first zone available, Borean Tundra and it was a really great place to level. Lots of different scenes and landscapes. I'm quite excited to head to the next area already.
While I do like the fact that Blizz introduced two starting zones, the Borean Tundra and the Howling Fjord, it kind of sucks that the two are completely disconnected. As a result, I quested completely in Borean Tundra and had no need to go to Howling Fjord. While I probably will go there for the rep and the instance, it would have been better implemented if the two zones were connected or had quests that asked you to go to the other zone as well.
Problem with the game right now is the queue. Absolutely ridiculous, at 1200-1700 person queues on the server I play on. That's a 1.5 to 2 hour queue. I basically have to log in 2 hours before I know when I can play in order to make sure that when I can play, I won't have to sit in the queue. This doesn't work when I come home from work though.
-
Yea, the queue thing sucks, Ive only had to deal with it that one time though, but I also get off work at 2:30 in the morning.
But I completely agree with you about questing in Northrend. Its just been totally amazing. It feels the quests and backstory to everything are much more clear and just all around well done. In some ways in sorta reminds me of Guild Wars. Theres a cool quest near the end of the zone, it kinda leads you up to where it works out its one of the last quests you do in the zone and theres a nice scene where its fully dialogued with speech and the Lich King plays an appearance, totally awesome.
Wait till you start opening up Dragonblight iPPi, theres a daily there thats just fucking amazing. Really easy and really damn fun. I was going to post some screenshots but I dont want to spoil it for you.
-
Yea I just headed out to Dragonblight tonight, though I didn't have time to do much. All I ended up doing was finish the quest to learn how to teleport to Dalaran.
-
I have barely gotten any time to play, sadly. My paladin is 71 and my mage is still 70, along with the druid. I'm gonna push to get the mage and the paladin up to 80 first.
The quests are similar, but slightly more engaging than before. The eagle one in Howling Fjord was interesting at least. I've run Utgarde Keep a few times.. and it's really, really easy. But it is a quick and fun instance.
-
We had 3+ hour server queues over on Blackrock. So we all eventually got tired of it and took the free transfer to Chromaggus. It was an easy descision since we all just rerolled/transferred to Blackrock about a month ago. No we have zero queues, and it's also a lot easier to level without all the overcrowding.
What I did for questing was hit up both starting zones. I did Borean Tundra enough that I got the 130 quest achievement from there, then did the same thing in Howling Fjord. Now I'm a little ways into Dragonblight and I'm 2/3 of the way through level 75. Plently of instance runs helps too though. At this rate I'll still have half of Northrend left once I hit 80, so I can go do all those for money.
-
I just hit 74 and Im checking out Dalaran for the first time... holy hell this place is gorgeous. A huge step up from Shat. Not that Shat was terrible, it just got old quickly. This place is just a beautiful site to behold.
-
Holy crap! They made professions kick so much ass now. As a jewelcrafter I can now cut BOP gems that have better stats than any of the BOE gems I can cut. Even cooking is soo much better now. In the Burning Crusade cooking sucked there really wasnt that many recipes to get. Here its ridiculous! Theres a recipe to cook foods that give you any stat bonus you want, theres even ones that let you track humans or beasts!
Ee gads, Im so fucked, my life is over.
-
So I hit a major plot quest last night and discovered there are cutscenes, then shortly after I got to see how the new phasing stuff works in the world. Its pretty awesome.
The new quests and the way the story comes about from time to time is something never been done like this before in an MMO and raises the bar even more that it ever had. There are some points where I dont even feel like Im playing an MMO, its weird and pleasant at the same time the way the world will coalesce from something that a single player experience will give you then back again to where you remember this is a place where thousands of other players are in there with you.
I honestly cant wait till more of you check this out. Don't worry about end game content stuff like raiding and grinding, but just leveling your character in Northrend to 80 is where all the good stuff is.
-
DING 80!!
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Tichondrius&n=Sequoia
Naxx tonight.. i've replaced a ton of my BT/Sunwell gear already.. i am half in cloth =\
Also, my guild boasts nearly 9 Realm Firsts including Realm First 80, Human, Paladin (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v514/ANGRYKEEBLER/Pete.jpg)
-
I just hit 80 on my death knight. Now I need to grind out the 3000 gold that I borrowed to buy my epic flying skill, haha.
-
10 man Naxx cleared!
10 man Sartharion cleared!
Malygos.........not so much. Only had 4 tries on him but he is for a Naxx geared raid so we had a tough time. Should be able to get him next week.
-
They did some seriously cool stuff in this expansion. I just did a quest where I was riding on the back of a dragon with a harpoon and there's other dragon riders around me. I had to throw the harpoon at a dragon to pull myseff off mine and onto it, where I would fight the other rider. I had to do that like 10 times, jumping from dragon to dragon WAAAY high up in the sky.
-
The questing is much more inventive, I agree entirely.
I was shooting a machine gun at a bunch of ghouls while protecting injured soldiers earlier today.
My toons are only 74,71,70 too. Haha.
-
While I've never played WoW, I really do want to try something which I seem to enjoy doing whenever possible in a game. I want jump off a dragon from a great height, and just have a great fall.
-
So my guild and I did our first 25 man Naxx last night... we went at it for 4 hours and cleared the Spider wing and plague quarter..we got all the way to Thaddius before we had to call it a night. In our first 4 hours of 25 man raiding in the new x-pac we cleared 9 bosses!
-
Dinged 80 last night. My quest progession was Borean Tundra > Dragonblight > Zul Drak > Stormy Peaks. Zul Drak I think was my least favorite, not to say it was bad, and their were some cool quests, it was more that Troll lore doesnt interest me as much as other parts of the universe, like say the Dwarf lore which is more prevalent in Stormy Peaks which I loved. Cant really say much else other than what I have already gushed about. Now I gotta work on some better gear for heroics if we can manage to do that. Gotta farm for mats for epic rings I can make. First thing I went after was the epic shield that blacksmiths can craft. I managed to save stuff up while I was leveling. Where did you guys go to quest anyhow?
-
I too recently hit 80 and have started raiding with my guild in 10 and 25 man content. I'm a little undergeared compared to the rest of my guildies since they have been raiding for about 2-3 weeks now and the lag is making it difficult to maintain a good rotation, but overall my dps is reasonable. Once I get a couple more pieces and replace all of my level 70 gear I'll be in much better shape.
I went Borean Tundra > Howling Fjord > Dragonblight > Zul'Drak > Storm Peaks. I've been meaning to go back and do quests in Grizzly Hills, Sholozar Basin, and Icecrown, but work + raid, and the need to do heroics doesn't give me much time to do so.
-
I did Borean Tundra > Howling Fjord > Dragonblight > first part of Grizzly Hills > Icecrown. I need to go back and do the rest for achievements, as well as to grind Oracle/Frenzyheart rep. My small guild has managed to clear naxx like 3 times now. It started off with like 5 friends and we've managed to pick up a few pro people we've met while doing heroics, some of
which ditched their "raiding" guilds to join us on 10 mans.
-
my guild downed 25 man Malygos about 2 weeks ago.. we are now working on Sartharion with his 3 drakes up. It is the hardest fight in WOTLK thus far while everything else has been cake.. Malygos seemed like the only "real" raid content and even he paled in comparison to anything in Sunwell
-
Yea all the content, except for 3 drake Sartharion is pretty much a cakewalk at the moment. I believe 2 guilds on our server have the Twilight Vanquisher achievement -- we're gonna start working on 3 drake Sartharion this week ourselves.
-
Well I think Im gonna take a break from it for a little while. Im the 2nd person in the guild to reach 80 and I think its gonna take a little while for the rest of the guild to catch up so we can start doing those instances. Plus Ive been thinking about getting into a lot of other games lately.
-
I hit 80 a while ago, but have been bored out of my mind waiting for the arena season to start. Done many of the heroics, but my gear has improved little if at all since dinging 80. My time schedule doesn't allow me to do Naxx with my guild either, sadly. All of this will change in a few weeks, though.
Can't wait for arenas! I need pvp gear!
-
Ditto.
-
I'm bored with my 80. There is no incentive to do anything but end game raiding at this point in time. Heroics are 'meh' -- you get badges but the gear is so easily replaced by gear that drops from 25 mans. Rep grinding -- you need to do heroics to grind it. PvP -- non existent at this point in time with no pvp gear; makes BGs and arenas pointless at least until season 5. Raiding -- seems boring since the content is so easy.
While I had a blast leveling from 70-80, I'm finding the end game very lacking at this point in time. The DK is a lot of fun though, I think I'm gonna get him to 80 next.

Though the more I "think" about it, the more I wonder whether or not Hellgate: London might surpass WoW for me...
This post seems so funny -- in a sad way -- over a year later.
-
Wow. That's really depressing, isn't it?

3 drake Sartharian is annoying.

We finally got it on Heroic

Flagship would've been still here, if...
..they didn't release the game too early; had enough of a team to patch up the SP and MP equally; didn't come up with stupid DLC schemes (a pay-monthly-subscription fee to keep all new DLC; DLC wouldn't be in the SP side); and probably some other "etc, etc" I just can't think of.
Matter of fact, Flagship should've just made the game either SP only or MP only. There's no way they -- or any company, for that matter -- could handle that kind of insane load of stuff they had to do and wanted to do. I don't even think BethSoft could've pulled off what Flagship tried to do, as great as BethSoft is. Hench why BethSoft usually makes only SP games.
I think the only game with any chance of trying to take a stake at WoW's dominance on the MMO market might be SWTOR MMO.
-
The Blizzard name carries so much weight and people are loyal to it. I wouldn't be surprised if nothing surpasses WoW until Blizzard's next MMO (which we know nothing about so far, except that it's a new IP).
I'm bored to tears of WoW again. I quit my old guild and sold off my rogue because I was sick and tired of the raiding game at 70. Then some efriends got me to reroll alliance and start a small friends only guild with the intention of PvPing and maybe doing 10 mans. Next thing I know we're doing joint 25 man runs with another guild and that old feeling of "fuck, these people are all retarded, why do I ever come to raids?" came back. Of course without raiding there isn't really anything to do anyway. I hate arena, BGs are boring after 3 matches of the same old maps (except the new shitty one, strand of the Ancients). I'd like to level my rogue alt and go two shot people while they try to quest, but every time I get on him someone wants me to get on my DK for something.
Oh, and I swear to god I'm never rolling another class with the capacity to tank or heal again. I started out as a DPS death knight, now everywhere I go I'm asked to tank, even by my guild who knows I'm better geared for dps. Of course, I think the whole tank/healer/dps setup is retarded anyway. Very few people actually enjoy tanking or healing, so why build an entire game around that type of gameplay? It ruins the fun for some people, and it's completely retarded when you think about it. Oh, so this Illidan guy has been dominating shit for like 1000 years or something, and leads legions of troops and plans on total annihilation.... but he's too stupid to stop attacking the guy with the shield and heavy armor, when he could be killing the guy in the dress. There has to be another way.

Play more Left 4 Dead. It has zombies and won't make you feel like a pussy.

I dunno..i kinda feel like one when a tank RAPES MY FACE OFF
-
Haha, I stand corrected, and point well taken.
-
Keeb are you a hordie or an alliance? I'm on a low pop PVP server and considering switching. We've downed 10 man Maly (Alliance first for our server), but we can't gather enough non-idiots to do 25 man Malygos, and we are far from getting 3 Drake Sartharion down.
What's your server/guild/etc like? oO
-
We cleared 25 man Sarth, Naxx and Maly all within 3 weeks of release. We are supposed to raid 3 times a week but we've been getting it all done in 2. We got 3 Drake sarth a few weeks ago. We are considered one of the top guilds on the server and definitely top 3 Alliance. Its really laidback and the people are great. I have met up with them a few times for dinners and stuff.
We are recruiting mages and paladins right now!
-
I am a mage. <3
I'm not quite sure I'm ready to xfer just yet, but I'll keep you updated. Can you link me your armory/etc?
-
PS: Nice signature

my guilds rank on wowjutsu is #4 for my server http://wowjutsu.com/us/tichondrius/ (guild is <Evolution>)

25 man 2 Drake Sarth down.
We're doing 3 now. Just one-shotted 25 Maly. And cleared Naxx last night in our best time yet. Feeling goooooooooooood.
This would be an Alliance server first, btw.
-
Wow, that's a low population server.
For us, we're doing achievements now. We did 6 minute Malygos on Tuesday and are now working on The Immortal. 3 achievements away from completing Heroic: Glory of the Raider for my 310% flying mount.
-
Nuts. Lol. All of this gear I'm seeing on you two is making me want to xfer.
More 3d Sarth tomorrow.
-
Just bought this. Gah, I hate this game so much. Can't stop playing. What have I done?!!!
-
Haha Ghandi, you just doomed yourself.
But dudes, check out my tank (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Garona&n=Olathin), Im getting rather proud of him. Hes got 27,000 health now, hes a fucking damage sponge. I love tanking.

Guild Wars mocks you for your weakness.
-
Still no 3d. We've gotten 2 drakes down, but tend to be in the process of wiping about then. We had it perfectly with about 10% left on the 2nd drake and no DPS dead when the MT died.
RAWR
We'll get there, though. It's still looking like we are ahead of our competition on the server.
-
Have you tried to use a voidwalker tank? In 10 man it's still a challenge because of limited numbers, but if you use a voidwalker tank in 25 man, the encounter is a joke. The VW needs like 75k hp though; I don't think it's too hard to accomplish for the most part.
-
Guild Wars mocks you for your weakness.
You're right, I never gave it enough time. I wish I had.
There's just something about Blizzard games that makes me always go back to them.
-
FINALLY got 3d down.

I have been talking to a guy from a different server and I was seriously going to xfer. Now I am thinking that I will stay where I am.
-
That's some terrible DPS.
Anyway, we got Immortal last night and a couple people (including me) completed the Heroic: Glory of the Raider achievement so we got our Black Proto Drakes.
-
wowow spriests in the top 3 dps spots lolz

Have any of y'all transferred servers before?
I've been applying around and found a pretty hardcore guild called Burning Sensations on Korgath. They want to take me to replace one of their 'lesser skilled' players. They promised me a raid spot. Wowprogress has them 50thish in the US. My guild is basically tied for the top spot on my server, so there isn't anywhere else to go.
I'm only hesitant because I've been with my guild for a while and I am decent friends with them all. It would definitely be sad to go. At the same time, I feel like I have a much better chance of being successful in Ulduar with the new guild on a medium/high pop server. And I wanna do it well before Ulduar so I can get situated.
I have another couple days to decide, but I'm not getting any closer. Haha.
-
Yea see that's why I can't do the raiding endgame stuff. It no longer becomes playing with your friends, it's all about getting that dps, priest, or tank slot just for some better gear, even if your surrounded by people you don't know or possibly hate. It's like a day at work.
Right now I've just been doing heroics just with some friends, most of them are older people with families and more time consuming jobs, sometimes well get by, but other times we will just wipe and wipe and wipe, but I honestly don't care, we have a good time. The good epics that may drop is just a bonus.
-
I've transferred servers a number of times, and in some cases left behind friends. My problem with friends in WoW has always been that my friends will quit, I'll transfer, then they come back and I'm gone. Or they decide to reroll somewhere and ask me to come, but not all of my friends are going, so I have to choose between group A and group B. the server After rerolling allaince with some online friends, and watching all but one get bored and quit, I went back to horde.
The server I'm on now has someone I've been playing with for most of my time in WoW, he's never quit or taken a break, and he was able to get me into the top guild on the server where I can leech and get free epics. My friend vouches for me, so I get free runs of naxx 10 and 25 man with alts and such. My first night in guild I got 3 piece T7 (2 valorous), and 2 best-in-slot items, plus the 2 best daggers in the game atm. Yay for being carried! I was in full quest blues, didn't even have level 80 5-man non heroic loot, haha.
As far as transferring...
My UD rogue went: Blackrock -> Garithos -> Arthas -> sold him
Human DK went: Blackrock -> Chromaggus -> abandoned
2nd UD rogue went: Arthas -> Skullcrusher -> Dragonmaw -> Skullcrusher, where I play now
-
I agree with pyro there, that's why I don't play WoW anymore. Once you get to end game content it's like masturbating with sand paper. You aren't having fun anymore even if you pretend you are. You are doing nothing but another job that you have to pay for. You missed Wednesday raid because you had to go to the doctor sorry you're out of the guild.
-
Just caved in and bought this. I've got a 68 warrior and I want to level past 70, but I might just go ahead and make a DK like everyone else. They kick so much ass (as opposed to a warrior) that there's no point in going to 80 with my warrior.
