Title: Total lunar eclipse tonight
Post by: idolminds on Monday, August 27, 2007, 10:11:18 PM
NASA has details (http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/LEmono/TLE2007Aug28/TLE2007Aug28.html) for viewing times in various timezones. I'm going to have to stay up really freaking late for this one...

These things always occur at inopportune times. Sometimes I just with that space / time would revolve around my needs.

Make sure to take pics.

This will interfere with my part-time job as a werewolf.

I woke up and saw it just as it turned kind of a rust color, it was really cool.

I woke up at 5:57am EDT, and saw the rusty moon.  I thought that was the height of it so I went back to bed.  I wish I watched it a little longer.

I've seen a total lunar eclipse before.  The dark moon which you can still see is totality.  (From the moon, I imagine the Earth looks like a ring of fire, which illuminates a bit.)  It's fun to step out every so often and see all the phases, but it gets boring if you just sit out there and try to stare at the whole thing.
