Lewis Carroll was not a drug addict, despite popular opinion.  The few references to drugs in his work (such as the Centipede from Alice in Wonderland) are based on caricatures of other Oxford dons.

The Cordyceps fungus (pictured below) is readily transmissible to humans, where it has similar effects.

This fungus in the way it can apply to humans was the very thing that inspired Hayao Miazaki to write the book Nausicaa which eventually led to the animated film as it described plants becoming highly poisonous in order to cleanse soil radiated from a nuclear apocalyptic future.

Speaking of new years, the 21st century and the 3rd millennium AD both started on the same day:  January 1, 2001.  People like the 1999-2000 year transition better because all the numbers change.

Wild story, D. When I was born I had something wrong. I forget what exactly (its been a long time since my parents told me), I think I had fluid on my lungs or something like that. I was in intensive care for 18 days. Our family doctor actually postponed his Christmas vacation to make sure I was ok. Dr Fields....he was also unique since he was an albino african-american.

So anyway, thats my story. I've actually got a picture of me in that state, and you can see it here (http://user.mc.net/~pbsmith/pics/Robo-baby.jpg). That big tube going into the side of my chest left a deep scar, and I have two more on the other side to match it. My dad carries this picture in his wallet.

Also notice I was totally flexing for the nurses.

ahh.. it makes me sad seeing pics like that of babies.  A nephew of mine spent his life that way.  He only lived a little over a month.

Wow, Idol...one hell of a story you got yourself, too! Glad you made it here, bro!!!

From what my parents told me, yeah -- I had lots of needles and whatnot put in me, right after birth. They had to do all kinds of stuff, to keep me alive, basically. That is probably why to this day, I freakin' hate needles and going to the doctors, I bet! I also guess the nurses, back then after I was born, didn't call me "Squirmy" for nothing, as I couldn't really sit still, squirming all around, when I was in the hospital -- heh! Yeah, and I still can't sit still, to this day, for the most part!

My dad, still yells at me to this very day, even though I sure as hell don't do it like I used to, for lookin' at things -- especially TV's -- crooked, from out the corner of my eye. I've been doing that ever since I was born, lookin' at things crooked. But these days, it's not even close to the degree I did when I was younger. For the most part, I grew out of that. Though, every now and then though, I'll look at something and be lookin' at it out the corner of my eye...

Oh, I was born at a little over 4 pounds or so...

you must have been a big baby!  4 lbs and a preemie..

i was full term and only just over 6 lbs :p

I lack 5 teeth but people can't tell I lack teeth. I need to point it out and still it takes them a while to figure it out.

Five? I'm missing all four wisdom teeth, but at least four is an even number.

Have you considered joining the X-men? They have excellent dental coverage, but they make you buy your own costume.

I was born choking on the umbilical myself.  Of the things that can go wrong with a birth, I think this one is not too uncommon.

Thanks... wisdom teeth and a front tooth, lower jaw!

Xessive, X-Men... well they already have witches with no teeth.  So... I don't know.. we'll see, maybe i have a future in that if I lose my job.
