Title: These high speed downloads are making me impatient

How does this happen? I live on freaking dialup, I wait constantly for even the little things. But I'm sitting in this hotel room downloading my ass off (4GB so far), and I'm getting impatient with some downloads. "100MB will take 8 minutes? God damn...find a faster mirror!"...that shit would take me all night at home.

I even stopped a download of the QW:ET demo because it was going to take 5 hours. I found a mirror and will get it in an hour. At home that would have taken at least a week. I should be thrilled with even 5 hours.

But then i realize that 5 hours is "slow" when I've got a limited amount of time to get all the big stuff I want. Now it takes an hour and I have 4 more hours to download things. So it makes sense like that.

Still...I'm getting spoiled.

Your probably impatient about it because you have a limited amount of time at the hotel and your trying to grab as much shit as you can before you have to leave.

So this probably isn't a good thread to mention that I get my 12 mbps connection for free since I work for the cable company, right?

My DSL got upgraded to 300 kB/s down, so I'm pretty happy about that.  I think I get 100 - 150 kB/s up.

Idol, be careful that the hotel doesn't bill you on bandwidth! Some hotels here in Dubai have policies like you get 2 gigs and it's $10 for every extra gig or something. Check with the reception just to be sure.

Guess this hotel didnt have anything like that. Dad didnt complain about the bill when we checked out.

Well Dubai is the biggest rip-off city in the world at the moment. Right now an average single bedroom apartment costs about $2500 monthly.
