Title: Monster Camp
Post by: NatchDan on Sunday, September 30, 2007, 11:27:33 PM
This is a little indie movie that I saw last week here in Calgary (yup, back there, hence my absence). It's a documentary on LARPers, or Live Acton Role Players for the uninitiated. It's a surprisingly balanced movie - it doesn't poke fun, but it acknowledges the inherent silliness of some of it. There are also a couple of moments that you couldn't script more perfectly - For example, after an hour and a half of seeing people hit each other with foam swords, hearing one scream "Why can't people act like adults?" is hilarious.

Haha sounds cool, I will have to keep my eye out for that one.

I smell bullshit.  There is no way you can make a movie about this without constantly making fun of the people involved.  I'm sorry, I just think it's impossible.

I was shocked too. It doesn't poke fun at all, though having said that the people manage to ridicule themselves often enough.
