The Games for Windows – LIVE v1.2 update will continue to add numerous end-user benefits to the service, such as support for offline Achievements, so gamers can continue to rack up Gamerscore when not connected to the internet, the ability to see whether your friends are “joinable” in games, along with additional UI features.

Microsoft is rolling out two Games for Windows – LIVE updates in a matter of only four months, but we’re just getting started! Our goal is to deliver new and exciting experiences for Windows gamers, while maintaining the unique PC gaming environment we love. We’ve come a long way since announcing the vision of LIVE across multiple Microsoft platforms last year and are committed to continually refining and bringing future functionality to Games for Windows – LIVE.

Be sure to check out the first wave of titles to support the service which should hit shelves by Holiday:

    • “The Club” (SEGA) – Rated M
    • “Kane & Lynch: Dead Men” (Eidos) – Rated M
    • “Universe at War: Earth Assault” (SEGA) – Rating Pending
    • “Gears of War” (Microsoft Game Studios) – Rated M
    • “Viva Piñata” (Microsoft Game Studios) – Rating Pending
Man, with this update we're getting features that the 360 Live service had from its conception. Its still mind blowing just how badly MS dropped the ball on the GFWL launch.God damn, two games at launch, one being a 3 year old console port any the other being a very console-centric FPS. No client that you can run outside the games themselves (so you have to load the game to see if your buddies are even playing anything). No offline achievements (WTF, seriously?).

Its just...wow.

I hope GFW burns in hell.  The more I think about it, the more I hate it.

It's fine for a console to behave like a console.  If my PC starts to behave like one, I'll get some holy water and a priest.

WC3?

I'd rather just get that for Windows.

Or how about something a little more badass? (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/10/Phantom_prototype.jpg)
