I wonder how the fish died....

It's eyes were bigger than it's stomach. Or, rather, the fish it was eating was.

Maybe the fish it ate was alive and ate its insides?

The smaller fish probably just thought "Screw it!" and killed itself. I've wanted to do that many times after eating way too much.
