Title: Metalheads.. Recommend me some melodic/speed metal

I started listening to Dragonforce again after the Guitar Hero song inspired me.  Lol.  I am embarassed to say that I really like them and need more to fill my metal fix.

You might like Amon Amarth(even though they aren't power metal like Dragonforce and have more death metal style vocals), Symphony X, Kamelot, Children of Bodom, and Hammer Fall.  Dragonforce has kind of a unique sound so its kind of hard to list bands that sound like them, especially some of the guitar and vocals of Dragonforce.  Some of these bands I've listed may not be as fast as they are, but some of them have similar qualities. I was recently introduced to a band called Ensiferum that is kind of like a slightly faster Amon Amarth.

I would also suggest going to Pandora.com and typing in Dragonforce, that site can find all kinds of stuff similar to any band you type in and its free!

Can't help you there.  I appreciate Dragonforce on many levels, and I even quite like a couple of their songs, but on the whole I think they're a bunch of atmosphere-sucking asshats.  I just can't do modern power metal for the most part.

Sorry, man.  But Pandora.com is a pretty cool thing.  Try it out, you might indeed find a few bands that way.

If you like Dragonforce than try out Stratovarious. They are pretty ridiculous Power Metal.

Edguy
Sonata Arctica

along with bands already mentioned... I wouldn't classify Children of Bodom as powermetal though, they are more melodic black/death metal.

I mainly mentioned them because I know a lot of people who enjoy both.

Also shock, I'm curious if you've listened to any of these bands mentioned.

I do listen to CoB, Symphony X, and Hammerfall.

Upon sampling, I like Sonata Arctica!  And Kamelot!

On to do list: Edguy, Stratovarios, Wintersun.

Thanks for the suggestions!  Good stuff. :)
