If I had the time, I'd totally draw a picture of what it *actually* is: a tiny little guy that just happened to have evolved one huge claw to impress the ladies.  He fooled us all.

Hahaha!  I was thinking along those lines myself.  Arthropods usually breathe through their skin, and that limits their max size (surface area: power-2 function; mass: power-3 function).  It seemed unlikely to me that it could have been that huge, but who knows.  Maybe this one had gills.
