Shacknews (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50205)
Lumines (http://www.wildgames.com/games/lumines)
If you don't mind the ad that plays when you launch the game, apparently its a freebie.

As soon as I ran the installer, I'm greeted with a Wild Tangent legal message. Declined. Ugh! It's not the ad that I mind, and I have this on the PSP and the 360 already, so I think I'll pass on this near-spyware WT thing.
-
Yeah I avoid Wild Tangent like the plague.
-
Wild Tangent was what made me most sad about FATE. That game used it legitimately and everything, but... eh. Yeah. Sucks.
-
Yeah, supposedly the new WT stuff isnt that ugly driver spyware shit. Personally I blocked WT from accessing the internet with my firewall and played Fate just fine. Uninstall and there seems to be no ill effects, nothing left behind or strange programs running.
So I'm going to give this a go.
-
I've had bad experiences with WT in the past. No thanks.
-
I did the same as idol and didn't have any ill effects.
Anyway, let us know what it's like.

Is WT on the Retail Box version of FATE, too?
-
I've been playing it and I uninstalled it just fine and it didn't seem to have any spyware or weird shit left over after running AdAware and Spybot:S&D. I reinstalled it and it seems to run like a program should run. Nothing out of the ordinary, like Idol's experience.

WT protest their innocence, and provide a complete uninstall tool now as well. Eh, I guess if it were something I really wanted, I wouldn't let it stop me. Firewall blocks it. Later, I uninstall it. But it's not worth even that much hassle for a 3rd instance of Lumines.
-
Yeah, I'll probably uninstall it sometime soon again, it's something definitely made for a handheld, but I'm glad I can play it every now and then if I want since I don't own any of the versions. I'm hoping to get a PSP sometime soon so I'll probably get it for that.

Blocked via firewall, I see no problems. I didnt even see any ads (just one in the sidebar of the launcher, not a video ad or anything). So...neat.

Ditto. I grabbed this because I never got a chance to try Lumines and damn, it's fun. I wish I could put the resolution higher though.
