The thirst mutilator! (http://brawndo.com/)
It's got electrolytes.
-
It's like a monster truck you can pour into your face!
That's the best commercial ever.

Must... have...

So basically, a fictional stupid product that was invented to make fun of real stupid products and the people who buy them, is now a real stupid product, and people are buying it.
That is ironic (but not hipster ironic).

I'm not familiar with this at all. Also, I'm too lazy to look it up. Explain to satiate my curiosity and my laziness?

Its from the movie Idiocracy.
Joe learns that water has been replaced by Brawndo: The Thirst Mutilator, a sports drink advertised as rich in electrolytes, even for crop irrigation, causing the food shortage (the salty electrolytes in the Brawndo have accumulated in the soil, killing the crops).
After Joe reintroduces the use of water (now used only in toilets) for crops, the giant Brawndo Corporation's stock plummets, causing massive unemployment without visibly improving the crop situation.
