Post by: MysterD on Wednesday, January 09, 2008, 03:09:37 PM
NVidia users, do you not have Portal yet?

Get on your Steam account and you can go try the (free) Portal: First Slice.

From what I've heard, it's only the first 4 levels of the Portal game. (http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=84001&boardid=1&id=&view=flatnew&start=20)

Free Portal: First Slice for GeForce Owners [January 09, 2008, 1:44 pm ET] - Viewing Comments
Valve announces the release of Portal: First Slice for free for owners of NVIDIA GeForce accelerators, offering a sample of Portal, their first-person puzzler, to those who favor their favored hardware:

January 9, 2008 - The most recent Steam® Hardware Survey (http://www.steampowered.com/status/survey.html) shows more Steam gamers play on NVIDIA GeForce hardware than any other graphics platform. In an effort to further support this popular PC gaming configuration - Steam games plus NVIDIA hardware - Valve and NVIDIA have entered into an agreement to collaborate on development, distribution, events, and more.

Effective immediately, all NVIDIA gamers may receive a free copy of Portal™: First Slice, a special version of the award-winning new game from Valve, by visiting www.steamgames.com/nvidia1 and "Taking the test." Steam will then auto-detect the presence of NVIDIA hardware and make Portal: First Slice available immediately, free of charge. To make it easy for all NVIDIA customers to redeem this offer, a link to the Steam offer will also be included in all NVIDIA drivers.

What the fuck?  I don't know what this is actually all about, but I'm suspicious.

This sucks for ATi as they always had an understanding with Valve, while iD were more friendly to Nvidia with Doom 3.

I am sure Gabe Newell's response to any complaints from ATi fans is,"They still make video cards?"

Similar to what my reaction was when I visited that link... "Blue's News still exists?"
