Title: Project Valkyrie: Metroid inspired mod
Post by: idolminds on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, 10:35:07 PM
Site (http://www.project-valkyrie.com/)

Just had their first release. I like these guys already. First, the project started as a 3 month mod. They wanted to make something quick and go from start to release in 3 months. Not really sure if they actually reached that goal, but its close. I like that, get it to the players ASAP. The other thing I like, is its Metroid *inspired*, and not just some Metroid fan game. This way they avoid Nintendos lawyers and can keep making it, plus branch out and do some non-Metroidy things without having to fit it into that universe.

Anyway, this first release is only 94MB. One map. Required TF2 (for now, until Valve updates the SDK and then you'll only need HL2). FFA DM, you got your arm canon and morphball and bombs. Sounds like fun to me.

Currently a fileplanet exclusive, but there is a torrent here (http://torrents.thepiratebay.org/4002925/ProjectValkyrie_Beta1RC1-Win32-Full.exe.4002925.TPB.torrent). More official links should come tomorrow.

Looks great!  I'd totally try that if... you know.

I understand it's a first release and all, but it kind of blows a little bit.  The concept is alright, but that's all there is at this point.
