I remember a while back I heard that AIM had added some spyware into it's installation, and was beginning to get really bloated. (I think this was around version 5.5 or so) At that point I untinstalled and installed an from an old 5.2 setup file I had, and have been using it since.
Now AIM is up to 6.5. Is it any better? Still bloated? Any spyware? I just wonder if I'm losing out on any funcionality by using an older version still.

I can't imagine it would have gotten better in any way. Maybe a few additional functions, but almost certainly more bloated.
You always have the option to use a third party client like Pidgin.

Yeah there are tons of third party programs that are much better than AIM.

Yea, I downloaded Pidgin and I'm gonna try it out.
